Hello, I'm Mean as custard. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added, because it seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Mean as custard (talk) 16:30, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hello, Jvela133, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!

It's really important to learn these basic policies — they're pretty straightforward, thankfully — and not add uncited claims, personal observations or such non-encyclopedic opinions as...

Human Directionals/ Brand Ambassadors: This is the perfect way to catch the attention of passing cars or pedestrians with this animated and artful form of advertising. People will stop in their tracks to watch sign holders twirl, twist and toss their arrow shaped signs in the air. This is a perfect addition to a street team or as a stand alone attention grabber.

...as you did at Out-of-home advertising, where another editor reverted it. I'm afraid I've had to remove most of your comics-related edits for similar reasons. I hope you have a chance to read up on the Five Pillars and join as a constructive Wikipedia contributor! With regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 19:10, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for working to improve the site with your edits to various articles. However, your edits to Jim Shooter, Ralph Macchio (comics), Thor (film), Vincent Di Fate, Without Fear and Secret Wars had to be reverted, because Wikipedia cannot accept unsourced material or original research. This includes material lacking cited sources, or obtained through personal knowledge or unpublished synthesis of previously published material. Wikipedia requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here.

This also holds true of your edit to Advertising, which included a number of statements of opinion. Statements of opinion can only be included in articles if they are explicitly attributed to reliable sources that are cited.

It is also inappropriate to add links to References section without a clear indication of what material in the article the link supports, as you did with you edits to Movie billboard and Out-of-home advertising.

Also, when you add material to an article, as you did with this addition to Gene Colan, try to read through the article, or at least the section in question, in order to incorporate your additions more seamlessly. If a paragraph details information about events in 2008 and 2009, for example, placing information about 2007 at the end of that paragraph is not the best choice.

In a similar vein, headings are not used as the beginning of sentences, as seen in the aforementioned Without Fear edit.

Lastly, remember that Wikipedia must be written in a formal tone, and this means, among other things, that subjects are generally referred to by their surname, and not their given name.

If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. :-) Nightscream (talk) 20:30, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
