April 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Benjamin Luxon has been reverted.
Your edit here to Benjamin Luxon was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.youtube.com/user/kadoguy2006#grid/user/87CC7692620EA641) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 00:24, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Maureen Forrester do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia.

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Lois Marshall. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it.

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Leon Lishner. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

This is your last warning; the next time you insert a spam link, as you did at Norman Treigle, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines.

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for adding spam links. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia and potentially penalized by search engines. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Request reason:

I have read the instructions and policies now sent to me by AlexF. After communicating my case through multiple e-mails to him I have learned how to use the talk page correctly (I hope!). I have very little computer skill and my few attempts at adding something to Wikipedia were done basically by rote or imitation of previous entries. I have added links to musical references available to musician bios found at Wikipedia of whom I have a great deal of knowledge after more than thirty years of research. I have a great deal of respect for Wikipedia and appreciation for it, am honored by the ability to share in even a small way to its content, and am offering what I feel is a useful resource only where it is most useful to artists where most of the public would have difficulty locating musical offerings. There are no illegal copyright issues among any of my offerings and I receive no monetary gain whatsoever. I first learned of Wikipedia's capability for this by listeners at my site who had previously linked musical links and then showing them to me. So I thought I would look for a few specific artists in Wikipedia where some appropriate examples of their artistic work would be useful. The warnings I ran into while entering I felt were a combination of "warning" as to "do not post illegal copyright violations here" or "spam"... I knew I was not doing that and unfortunately did not read the warnings carefully. I also thought perhaps I had entered things wrong and that caused the warnings. When I went back and tried to "save" file again it seemed to have disappeared. Anyway, I am sorry for not being able to have heeded the warnings properly and hope you will lift the block so I may be able to offer some benefits in written and audible form to this great website of available knowledge. I wish to support your work here very much. Thank you for your consideration.

Decline reason:

I appreciate and encourage your enthusiasm for contributing here, but you seem to be arguing that you should be allowed to continue to add these links to Wikipedia. Most of the reversions of your edits and the warnings posted here were done by a bot account, an automated process that preforms uncontroversial tasks. As in, it is uncontroversial within the Wikipedia community that the type of links you have been adding are not appropriate. Our definition of spamming does not require you to be making a profit from your activities. If we were to allow everyone who edits here to post links to their own YouTube channel I'm sure you can imagine what an unsightly and confusing mess we would have on our hands very quickly. If you still wish to be unblocked, please post another request indicating what manner of contribution you would make if we were to grant the request. Thanks. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I understand your reasoning for disallowing many YouTube links and that makes a lot of sense. I will not link to any. I would hope to be reinstated into the good graces of Wikipedia so that - where appropriate - I may be able to contribute some of my experience or wisdom in the field of classical music to a page here and there. I have spent my adult life in music and music research and would like to add data to some of the musician biographies at Wikipedia for whom I feel competent to do so. Thank you for your consideration.Kadoguy (talk) 22:01, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Accept reason:

You seem to show at least some remorse, so I'm willing to give you a second chance this time. Please, for your sake, don't waste it. Thanks.  狐 Dhéanamh ar rolla bairille!  11:51, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
