Speckled Wood, Hastings
[edit]Please can you take a look at the two sentences that I tagged for failing verification. The reference makes no mention of the map and in any case is a primary source, a secondary source would be required. The first sentence also makes no sense? CheersTheroadislong (talk) 10:09, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Hello Thero. What you have asked does not make much sense to me. Can you elaborate please?
I noticed you deleted the paragraph :
In January 2013 The Friends of Speckled Wood Management Trust presented a case to Ordnance Survey in which they asked for the wet footpaths to be mapped by their state-of-the-art GPS system Trimble. These were later successfully mapped in April 2013.[8]
Do you mean this ? . Can you explain what was wrong please? Cheers Kelly
- The first sentence was re-written to make sense by someone else, but the reference does not mention the map? It needs a reliable third party reference. Theroadislong (talk) 12:13, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Hello Thero. I quoted this sentence from here:
In January 2013 The Trust presented a case to Ordnance Survey in which they asked for the wet footpaths to be mapped by their state-of-the-art GPS system Trimble. After much discussion about map sizes. The wet pathways were mapped in March this year. The Trust are told it will take six weeks to populate all of the Geographic map sites. This data including the footpaths was distributed yesterday 16th April 2013. http://www.speckledwood.org.uk
Do you mean this site is not reliable as a reference point?
Can you explain this in plain English as i cannot understand what you are trying say:
"The first sentence was re-written to make sense by someone else, but the reference does not mention the map?"
Cheers kelly
- OK I see where you got it from now, the website is not easy to navigate and very slow to load! If you would like to re-write it in your own words rather than copy and paste it you could add it back.Theroadislong (talk) 12:43, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Hello Theo
Thank you for your help can you please give me some suitable direction to start from as I am only really updating species list and noticed the history was pretty much out of date and felt it should be more accurate. Which country are you in as its pretty fast here in England Cheers Kelly

[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please make sure to include an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks! Hello you are placing 4 tildes in the edit summary where you should be explaining your edit instead :) Theroadislong (talk) 09:04, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
The wiki pages said to enter Kelly Pelaou (talk) 10:40, 11 May 2013 (UTC) to let wiki auto insert my details . Is this not working how i expect it too?
- You only need to enter the four tildes at the END of a conversation on a talk page not in the edit summary, the edit summary is where you tell people what you have just added or changed.Theroadislong (talk) 11:22, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- You are still adding four tildes to your edit summary, instead of an explanation of your edits? Please take the time to read and understand how Wikipedia works and remember it is an encyclopaedia not a promotional tool for your cause.Theroadislong (talk) 10:58, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Hello, Kelly Pelaou. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Speckled Wood, Hastings, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 11:02, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your report at Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention (UAA). However, your report was removed as UAA is for username policy infringements that are serious enough to warrant an immediate block. General name policy violations should first be discussed with the user on their talk page. A helpful template to do just that is {{subst:Uw-username}}. Note that a request for comment can be filed if the user disagrees that their name is against the username policy, or has continued to edit after you have expressed your concern. You may find the UAA instructions helpful, and I'd recommend reading them over prior to making future reports to UAA. Thank you. Please consult WP:Harassment for guidance. However, a single COI template and a report to WP:SPI are unlikely to be seen by most administrators as harassment under the terms outlined, unless there is more to your concern than these. - Vianello (Talk) 00:36, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
