Proposed deletion of Matt Rattay

The article Matt Rattay has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Drastically fails WP:GNG per only primary sources. Only other evidence found, but not included, is routine coverage. There is no automatic notability for any CrossFit athlete and it is a niche competition, so he fails WP:NATHLETE. It could be argued many of the winners of the CrossFit Games also fail GNG, but this guy hasn't even qualified individually or finished in the top 20 with a team for that level of competition. Creator's claim of "He is the world record holder in CrossFit for the handstand walk" is about the equivalent of someone claiming "the fastest mile time on an High School track in the city of Detroit", in which I mean it means nothing at all.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

I'd argue that your city of Detroit fastest mile comparison is apples to oranges. The CrossFit games and their feeder events are global. So, his world record In the 250 ft handstand walk means that no one, anywhere else in the world, has completed the 250 ft handstand walk faster in a CrossFit games/regional event. The workout in question was performed across the globe during the regional round of competition.

Sorry, but there is no such thing as a "CrossFit World Record", especially when the events change every year. There is actually no inherent notability for any CrossFit athlete on wikipedia. If you remove the prod, I will take it to AfD and it will be deleted for reasons I listed (try reading them). Bottom-line, Mr. Rattay must meet WP:GNG to be notable and he is not.

You might want to trust me on this, I have actually been involved with CF and actual Games athletes for a decade as well as being an WP editor. I can differentiate between "CrossFit famous" (which Rattay is not, I would argue some OGs like Spealler, Chan, Khalipa, and Clever are far more notable) and actually wikipedia notability. So, just for my own edification...how did he break a record if there is no record? The source posted specifically States he broke the previous record.

Your own wording: has completed the 250 ft handstand walk faster in a CrossFit games/regional event (bolding mine). The bold means that is a huge qualifying statement (which was my intent with the a High School track in Detroit example) for a single event that has never been repeated or retested. Also "the source" (the CrossFit media which is WP:PRIMARY and cannot be used to prove notability) can say whatever they want, they are their primary media and have WP:BIASED opinions.
