Help me![edit]

Please help me with getting started...

Koen Fierens 18:51, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

I highly suggest you read the Your first article page, as well as the Tutorial. When you've finished that, use the Article Wizard to create a Draft, which will be reviewed and commented on by experienced editors. If you want more help, stop by the Teahouse, Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 19:44, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Koen, not all beers and brewers are equal. Duvel Moortgat Brewery is notable not because of the quality of their beers, but because they've been around and have had people write and publish stuff about them in reliable sources. Het Anker brewery is notable, but their Cuvee van de Keizer is not, though it's very tasty. De Proefbrouwerij, whom you are familiar with (and why are they also called Brouwerij de Proef? very confusing), is a judgment call, but Michael Jackson and Ben McFarland have written them up so that increases their chances of notability. Bieren van Begeerte gets to stay the moment there is evidence of notability (see WP:CORP for some guidelines). Basically, you have to be written about, and not just in the local newspaper. I see a few hits on websites like Beer Citizen, but that's not enough. It may well be too soon. I'm sorry, but that's the way things are. In the meantime, I look forward to finding a Kamil somewhere; I'll ask my Dutch friends to pick some up, if they're distributed in NL that is. Good luck, Drmies (talk) 20:11, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Koenfier. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Bieren van begeerte, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Bieren van begeerte to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks, Daniel kenneth (talk) 18:55, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Konfier, @Daniel kenneth: I've removed the BLP-PROD notice; this is not a biography. However, it shows no sign of meeting our notability requirements. Konfier, I see that Drmies pointed you to our rules on conflict of interest editing. You also need to look at our requirements for things to have articles. Basically, except for obvious things like oceans and Nobel Prize winners, Wikipedia requires that the subject has been covered at length in other reliable sources: books, newspapers, TV ... That's how we define "notability". There's a good page summarizing the policy here, with links to how we define things like "reliable sources". I did a fast search and could not find this brewery mentioned at length in any newspaper articles or such. If there are a couple of articles that spend a paragraph or two on the brewery and its beer—and are not just press releases—then please add them to the article. They don't have to be online, but if they are only available in print you will need to give full information: author, article title, newspaper or magazine name, date, and if possible page number. A tag has been placed on Bieren van begeerte requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
