SRK's Fan

- Looks intriguing, yes. It's quite sad that since Chak De! India and My Name is Khan, most of Khan's films have been such a mess, mostly rehashes of the commercial formula. - SRK's biggest blunders were his choices to collaborate with Farah Khan and Rohit Shetty. Since My Name is Khan, i liked only Don 2, mainly because of his performance in a role which is not silly, like Rahul of Chennai Express. More than Fan and Shinde's film, i am waiting for Raees. - He did mention in The Hindu that his dream was to open and manage a proper film institution (here it is and here as well in case you can't find it). Guess he's trying to justify it by choosing out-of-the-blue roles.

- I'm currently enthralled by both Brie Larson and Alicia Vikander. Such extraordinary talents at such a young age. In addition to their Oscar winning roles, you should see them in Short Term 12 and Testament of Youth, respectively. - Vikander has one of the most wonderfully melancholic faces that I've ever seen. Each scene of her in The Danish Girl significantly raised the bar of the film. It's kind of ridiculous that she was considered a supporting actress in it when she was as much a lead role in it as Redmayne. Her role in Ex Machina should have been a better fit in that category. Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly on how good Ex Machina is. See you've now seen Repulsion. Loeba considers it the most disturbing film she's ever seen, guessing you view it the same haha. It's certainly not a Disney film!! It is creepy as hell, that and 10 Rillington Place I consider among the creepiest. It is included on Ebert's site as the 102 films you must see before you die. I'd seen 101 of them, all great classics, watching the only one I've not seen now :-)♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:24, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

- Much of Night of the Living Dead was him preparing to board up a house rather than true horror, so I don't consider it a very good film no. The beginning was great though. Perhaps I should see it again sometime. Most of the films on that 102 list are must see classics. Any true film buff should have seen them all! - @Dr. Blofeld: Never really was much of a zombie film fan (imaginative but utter nonsense really). World War Z was quite good, courtesy of Brad Pitt's performance. Hopefully a virus like that doesn't come out! Mention of The Crying Game reminds me of this (from 03:17 to 04:47). - Low budget zombie films and overblown CGI superhero/teeny bopper films tend to constitute the worst in film in general. The generic slasher/zombie movie is pretty trashy. A proper intelligently made psychological thriller like Repulsion is far far scarier than anything they usually have to offer. Probably the scariest thing I ever saw was The Sculptress with Pauline Quirke. One of the scenes in it stands out as more shocking than anything I've ever seen on film and I've seen the Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom haha! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:28, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Just saw BM today. Great egg! Vat a lavli film! Ranveer's so full of energy (hard to imagine anyone else as Bajirao) and the song is goddamn addictive (It's still running in my head as I'm writing this message!). The film too is pretty grand stuff from SLB. Although PC's character of Kashibai was physically disabled in reality, she made the role seem very believable. - I know right! I thoroughly enjoyed the film as well, but was disappointed with how over-the top Bhansali chose to get towards the end. Overall, the film was excellent except for the last 20 minutes. Nevertheless, the cinematography, costumes and art design were impeccable, as were Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra's performances. Padukone, I thought was a bit stunted in the role - a bit of a miscast if you ask me. She's excellent in contemporary films like Piku, but in this she seemed a little out of place. Chopra, of course owned the film. I always considered her to be an actress who generally acts out her feelings too strongly on screen and is generally good in overly strident roles. But in this one, she knocks it out of the park in a thoroughly internalised performance. Tanvi Azmi is an actress of tremendous strength, no doubt of that, but in this film Chopra's supporting act stood out far more than her. --Krimuk|90 (talk) 02:00, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

I still really haven't warmed up to Ranbir (To me, he's someone who's more famous for his personal life than on-screen life, but he was quite good in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), but I've Ranveer's completely grown on me! Thanks for making me a co-nominator. BTW, Pavan, he's done it before in Devdas and Ram-Leela (haven't watched the latter yet). - I've seen Ram-Leela. It is a good film, and Deepika Padukone was excellent in it. I personally loved the songs "Tattad Tattad" and "Lahu Munh Lag Gaya" (both audio and the visuals). Perhaps, that's why i find her somewhat miscast in Bajirao Mastani. Your tweaks with Kalki Koechlin
Hey I appreciate your tweaks with Koechlin's article but I have to say that I added specific sources that refer to her as a pioneer! That definitely doesn't mean that I want to revert back to the previous version, (I kind of like yours better) but I must say that just the film roles are not what earn the actors a pioneer status, and she has done more work than any other actress probably off-screen to be a "pioneer" in the industry! - "Her father is of Welsh origin, and her mother is of Welsh–Irish ancestry.[5]" -I think they're both Welsh nationality, but her mother has some Irish ancestry. the way it's worded makes it look like she is Irish.

Uttama Villain

- His performance was really good, as were most parts of the film. However, at close to 3 hours the film suffered from too much indulgence - the sequences of the film within the film were fun to begin with, but was ultimately stretched beyond necessity. - If you can closely observe the last act i.e. the play, it resembles the final moments of Manoranjan. The king is his death, the princess is his family, and he himself is his legacy. The way this play ends suggests that Manoranjan won his family's support and his legacy stands unaffected due to his death. That was something really wonderful. There were such sequences in the film randomly. The film does suffer from a slow pace and longer runtime. - I feel that Haasan is a bit like Kubrick in this way. Both their films (when they are in-charge of the script especially) are underrated upon release as they were ahead of their time. Later on, they are considered as classics. The character of Manoranjan's portions are the best in the film, and KB too, sparkles in every moment he's on screen. For example, most American actors are of European origins but are described as American actors/actresses not Italian-American or British American. If you think I made a mistake or that your possible citation for Katrina being "British Indians" is stronger than the citation that she is indeed British, please reply here or drop me a note on my talk page. Deepika Padukone
The role was never finalised, one reference states, that Khan was merely casting for the film... the other one says "reportedly bagged a role", which agian doesn't seem substantial enough. She did act in the film but it was much later and others actresses were offered the role including Katrina Kaif. So see if you think it's appropriate to mention the part because in actual she never got cast for the role. See [1] she says "it never happened" and she had "two-three girls" nothing specific. I dont even know wht the TOI reference is there, It states nothing, neither does the other. Find a reference that states that was "cast" in the role and kindly rephrase.
