This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of ForGetting The Unforgettable, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uNI4rGfImw.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Notability for books and whatnot
[edit]Hey, I saw where you're adding a lot of articles to the mainspace. I thought I'd explain a little about notability, especially for books.
The first thing is that selling a lot of copies doesn't give notability. It would be nice if it was as easy as that, but selling a lot doesn't give notability. That's why we often have books that will move to the top of one of the New York Times Bestseller lists, yet never gain enough coverage to merit an article. It's very frustrating, to say the least. Selling well may make it more likely that the book will gain coverage, but it's never a guarantee. Also, notability is not inherited (WP:NOTINHERITED) by the fact that a notable person wrote it. Like bestselling status, this can make it more likely a book will gain coverage but also isn't a guarantee.
Now as far as coverage goes, we're fairly specific in what it can be. Reliable sources (WP:RS) are things such as articles in newspapers, reviews on trusted websites (SF Site for science fiction books, for example), and coverage in news shows. Things that can't be used as sources are things like review sites like Goodreads, blogs, and merchant sites. These are usually because they are either average people or because they benefit from the product selling well in some in some form or fashion. Blogs sometimes can be reliable sources, but it's very rare. This is usually when the person writing it is considered to be so notable that they'd be considered reliable because of it. Even then in many cases we have to be able to show that they have some form of an editorial staff that overlooks the blog. Like I said, it's very tricky.
I also noticed that sometimes you have a problem with promotional tones. This can be a difficult thing to overcome when you first start editing on Wikipedia. It's one of the things that I had the biggest problem with when I first started editing and one that I still have problems with. You have to write things in a neutral manner (WP:NPOV) and in a tone that would be encyclopedic. The other big issue is that you had some copyright violations with your text. (WP:COPYVIO) This was because you took the synopsis from the book jacket, most likely. Even though it might seem like it could be easier to just take the book jacket text, you have to re-write it in your own words. There are multiple reasons for this, such as the publisher trying to sue us because we copied it from their synopsis. There are other reasons for this, but this is one example of many.
I hope some of this helps explain why the articles are getting deleted. On a side note, please don't remove AfD templates from the pages. That doesn't stop the AfDs and is seen as vandalizing the article. The only template that you would be able to remove and contest a deletion would be a WP:PROD template. For AfDs the only way you can contest the deletion is to talk on the applicable AfD talk page. Hope this helps! Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:46, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- I also wanted to say that we can't add things just to give them coverage and notice. It might seem like it would be WP:USEFUL to have the information on here, but in the end we can't add it unless it already passes notability guidelines. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:48, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
Nomination of Forgetting the Unforgettable to be allowed
[edit]The synopsis content of the page is the synopsis of the book and can be copied from any source as it does not have any copy right issues. There has been a major mistake in considering this page for deletion. The page mentions all legitimate details with proper content without any copyright issues. Try reconsidering every thought for deletion of this page.
- The discussion that led to the deletion is here. No one said anything about copyright issues. The focus was on the book itself having the notability needed to have its own article. —Largo Plazo (talk) 11:19, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Abhishek Agrawal.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Abhishek Agrawal.jpg, which you've attributed to Jimmy Eric. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 18:00, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
