If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Ledgardjepson, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Contested deletion

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (I was hoping to have the chance to add more copy to our page in the short-medium term because there are references to our company on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnsley

Jepson, Ledgard. "Experience Barnsley – Official website – Annual Review". www.experience-barnsley.com. Ledgard Jepson. "BDA". Archived from the original on 11 September 2017. Retrieved 24 October 2014.

We are a long established business and we would like to be able to link the work that we do to the preexisting content on wikipedia. This is not for promotational purposes - we are a key part of the local community, having created brand strategies for Barnsley council and working with a number of businesses in our area.

This is not a spammy promotional page so I hope there can be some scope to publish the profile, with a view to connecting the page to the brands and people in our area.

Please see below listings from official council website: https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/services/website/list-of-our-websites/

Barnsley Museums There are six websites for Barnsley Museums. These websites are provided by Ledgard Jepson for Barnsley Council.

Wikipedia is not a business directory, so a company is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:59, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As well, this is what you said in the edit summary of your userpage: We are creating a page for our businesses. Having been established for nearly four decades, we have been involved in many high-profile projects and would love to be able to showcase our work and act as a source for references for marketing projects in and around South Yorkshire. This is promotion, for which Wikipedia has a clear policy against. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:06, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As mentioned, we are a business that is heavily involved in the local community so we want to showcase the work that we have done and link it with, and enhance, information that is already available on wikipedia for Barnsley and South Yorkshire.
I am new to wikipedia so I did not know that the inital summary would be so heavily reviewed - perhaps I should have been more careful with the choice of language..
Please see https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/services/website/list-of-our-websites/ and view the Barnsley museums section. Ledgardjepson (talk) 16:09, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your user page may not meet Wikipedia's user page guidelines. It is intended for basic information about yourself, your interests and goals as they relate to editing Wikipedia, as well as disclosures of conflicts of interest and paid editing. Although a lot of freedom is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not:

The user page guidelines have additional information on what is and what is not considered acceptable content. Please use your user sandbox or the draft article space to practice editing or to create new articles. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:01, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username for this account instead, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page (which is this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be in use by another account. You can use this page to search the list of registered accounts and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If your search returns that "there is no global account for [your search term]", that means it is available.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page (which is this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
