Hello, Lefterislefteris

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Meena, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Balkan Basketball Championship 1959, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Meena}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Hello SmokeyJoe
Thank you for your observations.
The problem is that the link "https://static-cdn.arcanum.com/adt/pdf/Sportul/Sportul_1975_09-1621387705/thumb/page0049.jpg" can't mentioned because it is not readable. Document full access requires subscription, so if you are not a suscriber you can't see readable form except you must follow the search engine procedures e.g. in link "https://adt.arcanum.com/en/view/Sportul_1975_09/" search for balcaniadei and you see written notes.
So what is the solution for that??!!
Deletion for poor sources!??! Lefterislefteris (talk) 13:52, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, an unreadable newspaper image can’t be used as a source.
how do you know this event happened. Surely there is one source for it, or for the winner of it? That source even if a poor source is better than nothing.
Deletion for poor sources? You should not include poor sources. Maybe list them on the talk page. You have included a list of external links, but o can’t tell for what purpose. I suspect they are just a draft list of possible sources? SmokeyJoe (talk) 14:05, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Paywalled sources are not discouraged. If the good source requires a subscription, it is still good to use. Do you have a subscription? SmokeyJoe (talk) 14:07, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my god, I didn't realize you really thought that event didn't happen?!
Ofcourse you aren't obliged to have the books, but using an online translator you could see
in the official greek basketball federation "https://www.basket.gr/competitions-list/stoixeia-diorganwshs/?CompCode=15"
the greek games. And using the "trick" with romanian sports paper Sportul all the details............................. Lefterislefteris (talk) 17:58, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Of course I don’t really doubt that the event happened. It’s a good formal question for any new page, can you verify it, can you make it very easy for any reader to cite the event without citing Wikipedia? A review of the event? A report of the winner? I am confident that you can (despite having not), and so did not mention the alternative, which is to redirect back to the parent article as an unjustified spinout. I see you have made a lot of these spinouts by year, and are not providing the basic establishing reference for each event. Can you please work on doing this? SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:30, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
See what I did here. It would be better if the source for the result was from the event location. Do you have a Romanian source that reports the event, as happening, or it’s results.
This really is the minimum, which you did not do. Most people expect that this first citation include actual comment or contextualisation on the event. SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:39, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Your official greek basketball federation source does not actually state the result. Can you find a better easy source? If you have a book, you may cite to that as the primary reference, but please do so explicitly, including page numbers. SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:48, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop rapidly creating spinouts

[edit]

Please STOP making rapid WP:SPINOUTs of Balkan Basketball Championship. It is not clear at all that they add anything, sourced, to the parent article. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:53, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, 2018–19 Cypriot Basketball Cup, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~StyyxTalk? 20:19, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
