Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia.

You were right to add a disambiguator to the article though the normal convention is to use a lower case "(scientist)" but that can be sorted out when it is moved to main space.

To get things moved to main space you need to submit the article to the articles for creation process. You can do this by adding {{subst:submit}} to the top of the article to alert the reviewers that you are ready for a review. This may tike some time as there are currently 2,282 pending submissions to be reviewed.

Regards

Since this is your only contribution, and since it is written in exactly the format of a press release, it is reasonable to ask whether you are a connected contributor, in which case you must declare the connection. Please see our rules on Conflict of Interest If you are writing this for pay or as a staff member of the organization, see also WP:PAID for the necessary disclosures.
This reply here, and on the draft, and then I shall review it DGG ( talk ) 05:27, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if this is how best to reply but here goes. It's not my only contribution to wikipedia as I've edited a number of existing pages, but it is my first attempt at creating a new page (and at this rate, my last). I worked on The Norwich Research Park for over 30 years and retired earlier this year. I thought I would spend some time updating various NRP related pages on wikipedia and contribute new content on related topics. As the Director of the Quadram Institute was absent from wikipedia I thought I would start by adding a page on him. I have read the article on encyclopedic style and am finding it difficult to see why the Ian Charles page is being rejected. Any specific examples of how I can rewrite the article to meet your criteria would be extremely helpful at this stage.

OK, I shall take another look atthis tomorrow. DGG ( talk ) 06:03, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • As encyclopedias are tertiary, we don't actually write about the subjects of our articles; instead, we write about what has been written about the subject in reliable secondary sources. Every word, thought and idea in the article must be paraphrased from reliable secondary sources. John from Idegon (talk) 01:27, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify, the criterion is WP:PROF, not the GNG, and the need is to show him influential in his subject, which is the criterion for WP:PROF there. We do neeed a reliable source for the biography, but notability is usually shown by the publications DGG ( talk )
