wikifying names

[edit]

hi,

just saw that you created some genus pages for tarantulas :) two things: please try to wikify every name only once, not every occurence (example: Psalmopoeus). the wikipedia server needs to work for each link, and so this helps to keep the workload down. and, if you wikify names, please check if they link to the real person, and not for example a disambiguation (like in Strand for example). Check this list for exact links, ready to paste. also, if you add something like this {{WPSpiders|Start|Low}} to the spider genus Talk page, it is easier for the spider people to find + maintain the page. If you want, take a look at the WikiProject Spiders. cheers :) --Sarefo 21:43, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

some more things (just browsing your contributions): genus always capitalized, but species and subspecies always in small letters: Gallicolumba rufigula alaris instead of Gallicolumba Rufigula Alaris. Similar to the spider pages, try to add {{BirdTalk}} at the bird Talk page. --Sarefo 22:12, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wrong White-throated Robin

[edit]

Hi LT, just noticed that you have uploaded an image of a White-throated Robin [[1]] unfortunately it's a different species to the one on the page, this species is a Central Asian-Middle-East one.Aviceda talk 03:15, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

fixed the photo and added to appropriate category. Thanks --Ltshears (talk) 18:56, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I'm not here to complain about an image copyright or anything, just thought I might mention that the genus for this species also lacks a picture; if you add a picture to an article like this it can be a good idea to check that the genus article has at least one too. I'll add this to the parent genus Arremon now. Cheers. Richard001 (talk) 07:18, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for catching the re-added GIANT photo on List of dog hybrids! Jo7hs2 (talk) 21:40, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Frozenguild

[edit]

G'day Ltshears -

I noticed you undid Frozenguild's deletion in Maltese_(dog). Have a peep at his talk page. 122.200.166.113 (talk) 13:42, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

your description for deletion of an entire section made no sence to me(your reason given didn't make sense) perhaps you should have put unsourced as your reason rather then original research? what does that mean? and when looking at your talk page, it seems you have been warned numerous times for vandalism in the past so excuse me if i felt that your deletion of that section was not correct, and rather then delete it, you should have tried to rewrite it and source it,that is just my opinon and what i would have done...... --Ltshears (talk) 19:29, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you dont know what it means. LOOK IT UP. Do you think I'm making this up?
No, i do not think you are making it up, that is not what said.. I simply said that i didn't know what that meant.. I did not restore the section to cause an argument, i simply felt that it was not appropriate to delete the whole section. If i was wrong in restoring it, then my appoligies, but i am not going to fight with you over it. If you would have come to me and nicely asked why i undid your deletion, I would have nicely explained to you my reason and this could have been resolved without conflict., but i took offense to the way you posted on my talk page and think it was very mean actually...... --Ltshears (talk) 16:28, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Wikipedia does not publish original research or original thought. This includes unpublished facts, arguments, speculation, and ideas; and any unpublished analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to advance a position. This means that Wikipedia is not the place to publish your own opinions, experiences, or arguments.

Citing sources and avoiding original research are inextricably linked. To demonstrate that you are not presenting original research, you must cite reliable sources that are directly related to the topic of the article, and that directly support the information as it is presented" (see WP:OR). Also my past edits have nothing to do with this. It'l go a long way if you actually look at the edits in question rather than previous ones.--Frozenguild (talk) 00:07, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am not saying you are vandal, but at first glance of your talk page, it looked like you had been warned in the past so yes, i assumed that you were a vandal, and i was wrong to do so. --Ltshears (talk) 16:51, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi -

We wanted to let you know that we've used another one of your pictures in a project of ours: http://litpics.tumblr.com/post/14584818333/lit-the-flying-legion-by-george-allan-england

We created a computer program to generate random pairings of sentences from public domain texts and public domain / creative commons images. Some of the pictures we've selected come from the Wikipedia Commons. All the pictures we select ourselves, but the pairings and the text are random. Of these pairings that are generated, we only post the most interesting combinations.

Thanks for sharing your pictures,
Samantha and Patrick

Pigeons

[edit]

Hallo Ltshears, it seams that the Pigeon Task Force is inactive, so I try to ask you directly:

  1. Stralsunder Highflier --> Stralsund Highflier
isn't Stralsund Highflier the English name of the German Stralsunder Hochflieger? I am refering to the EE-List of pigeon breeds. --84.181.55.190 (talk) 12:02, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  2. There was a deletion request for commons:Pigeon Breeds (EE) at WMC (based on the EE-List). The Page was ment to give an overview about the existing Categories and Files and which breeds are missing. It should also provide the names for translation tables and help non-nativ-english-speakers to locate a special breed.
The discussion took place on commons:Commons:Undeletion_requests/Current_requests#Pigeon_Breeds_.28EE.29 and was closed by INeverCry who said out of scope, which I can't follow. Are you with me?

I crossposted this request on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Birds#Pigeons --84.181.61.183 (talk) 11:36, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:AlbinoAlligator.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! The article Small Greek Domestic Dog has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Seems to be made up. While there are sources (mostly NOT cited here) for the existence of the large historical breed (the Meliteo Kinidio or Kokoni, nothing but an unreliable dog blog site suggests that this smaller breed even exists, much less has such an implausible name as "Small Greek Domestic Dog". I'm calling WP:BOLLOCKS on this.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

I'm notifying you as you created commons:Category:Meliteo_Kinidio, probably in good faith. – Fayenatic London 15:03, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
