Surprise

[edit]

According to [1], the name of the lake at Surprise, Arizona is Surprise Lake rather than "Surprise, Urban Lake", unless there is another "Surprise Lake", the article should be at Surprise Lake rather than Surprise, Urban Lake, Arizona. If there is a lake with the same name in another state, the usual disambiguation would be Surprise Lake (Arizona). -- User:Docu

Permissions for image?

[edit]

Greetings! I saw that you uploaded Image:KinniRamp.JPG, noting that it's under the Creative Commons license and authored by the AZ Fish and Wildlife department. How did you get this image from them, and how can we see that they have released the image under CC? —C.Fred (talk) 17:05, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hrm. If they told you to create the pages and upload the images, they should also have indicated what the copyright status of the images is. (If they didn't say, the assumption is the images are under copyright and non-free). What it comes down to is, who owns the images, how are they licensing the images, and how does Wikipedia know what their intent is? If your instructions were to add the images under a CC license, that would seem to state what the license status and the owner's intent are. (Then the secondary question is how do we know they told you that, but that's another issue entirely.) —C.Fred (talk) 17:31, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:JDDamRR.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:JDDamRR.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 17:06, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Style issues

[edit]

Hello,

I really appreciate you adding pictures to some of the articles about Arizona lakes and streams that were badly needed. However, you may want to take it easy with some of the smaller articles - for example, the lead section of Stoneman Lake is crowded now with the text being wedged in between two pictures. If you have several pictures for an article without much text, you may wish to limit the use to a couple, more relevant photos. Alternatively, you may put extra images in a gallery at the bottom of the article - see Wikipedia:Gallery tag for information on how to do that. This ensures that the article is not overburdened with pictures. Shereth 20:26, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is this the same as Rio Vista Pond? BTW would fix the external links to point directly to the specific page and remove those that are not relevant. -- User:Docu

Alvord Lake

[edit]

I noticed your update to Donner und Blitzen River and discovered Alvord Lake is created. That article doesn't really say what Alvord Lake is: is it a municipality? Lake? Shopping mall?

I've found two USGS GNIS features named Alvord Lake, neither of which is in Arizona. Search for Alvord Lake here. For these reasons, I suggest Alvord Lake be a disambiguation page. The proper wikiname for the current article depends on what sort of entity is really is. The current article gives a coordinate for which Google Maps doesn't show anything labeled as expected. —EncMstr (talk) 18:07, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh sorry. Your work looked quite experienced; I expected you thought Alvord was uniquely named. I'll implement the disambiguation, but it's unclear to me what your article should be named. "Alvord Lake (Phoenix)" and "Alvord Lake (Phoenix, Arizona)" are likely possibilities. See Washington Park for a profound example of this sort of naming problem which also shows several inconsistencies. Is your Alvord Lake a municipal district? Or is it a body of water plus inherent recreational facilities? Is it artificial? Thanks for fixing the lede to clarify. —EncMstr (talk) 18:46, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done The dab page is created. I fixed the lingering redirect at Alvord, Urban Lake, Arizona to point to your article. Thanks. —EncMstr (talk) 19:17, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Surprise Lake

[edit]

Just so you know: I rescued your "Surprise Lake" article that got kidnapped; it's now at Surprise Lake (Arizona). Jmabel | Talk 05:43, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Alvord01.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Alvord01.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

File permission problem with File:Alvord01.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Alvord01.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
