Question from Femi003 (00:58, 20 October 2023)

Hi @marchjuly --Femi003 (talk) 00:58, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello. I've added a "welcome" template to your user talk page that contains links to some pages that you might find helpful. If you've got any questions about them, feel free to ask them at the Wikipedia Teahouse or the Wikipedia Help Desk. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:13, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

Question from Asolanki1915 (12:51, 25 October 2023)

Hello Please verify me edits. --Asolanki1915 (talk) 12:51, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi Asolanki1915. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by verify edits. Could you perhaps provide one example? -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:01, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
I received msg of MrOllie‬ about spamming. I am not understanding how you count my work in Wikipedia as spam. Please explain me. Asolanki1915 (talk) 13:09, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
The best person to ask about this would be MrOllie, but it looks like you tried to add an inappropriate link to the article Vehicle insurance. While the warning MrOllie posted on your user talk page might seem a bit harsh, particularly to a new user such as yourself, Wikipedia articles aren't really intended to be used for promotional purposes as explained in Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. If you disagree with MrOllie's assessment of the link, you could start a discussion about it at Talk:Vehicle insurance and explain why you think the link isn't promotional and how it qualifies as a Wikipedia:Reliable source for Wikipedia's purposes. Agreements such as this are often best resolved through discussion in accordance with Wikipedia:Dispute resolution. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:29, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
Not just to Vehicle insurance, the same site was added to around a half dozen articles. MrOllie (talk) 13:32, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
@MrOllie: Understand, but perhaps the OP doesn't get why that is considered "spamming". @Asolanki1915: Are you somehow connected to that particular website in either a personal or professional way? Do you, for example, own or work for the website you're trying to add links to? If you're connect to the website in some way, you really need to take a close look at Wikipedia:Spam and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for reference since adding such links isn't allowed per relevant Wikipedia policy. If you didn't know this and just made a mistake, then that's OK and you'll be fine as long as you just don't keep trying to add links to that website to any more articles. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:49, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
No I am not connected to any website but i will take about editing. I just want to become Wikipedia editor. My intention is just contribute in Wikipedia. I read some articles and i added detail in wiki pages. Asolanki1915 (talk) 05:08, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

Question from 22doubles! on 1977 Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles baseball team (22:49, 27 October 2023)

How do I add players to the team roster? --22doubles! (talk) 22:49, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi 22doubles!. It looks like the members of that team are being added by using the template {{Baseball roster/Player}}. I'm not very familiar without how that template works, but your last attempt to edit the article resulted in some syntax and other errors that were affecting the way the article was being displayed; so, I've restored the article to its last stable version. In addition, your previous attempts to edit the article were also reverted by a Wikipedia administrator named Bbb23 because the changes you were trying to make were WP:UNSOURCED. My suggestion to you is to not try and make the same changes again since further attempts to do so (even if your intentions are the best) might be seen as WP:DISRUPTIVE by a Wikipedia administrator, who then may decide to block your account. What you should do instead is post a message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball and ask for assistance from the members of that WikiProject. In your post, explain what you're trying to do and provide links to reliable sources that support the changes you want to make. The members of that WikiProject should know how to use the template for team members and should also be able to assess the changes you want to make to see if they're in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Finally, I will add a welcome template to your user talk page that contains more information about Wikipedia for your reference. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:27, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
