Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Marisaadams. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Draft:Lumos Learning, you may have a conflict of interest. People with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, see the conflict of interest guideline and frequently asked questions for organizations. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, its competitors, or projects and products you or they are involved with;
  • instead, propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing, and autobiographies. Thank you. RadioFan (talk) 04:07, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @RadioFan:, Thank you for your feedback. I do believe I have followed the conflict of interest guidelines very carefully. I have not linked to anything created by the company within the article. And while I have included this specific company in two other places, I have also linked to other companies in places that were appropriate. My last addition to Wikipedia did not even include company names of any kind. I know the education world; that is my background. So, I have focused on adding content from that realm. I have not received any sort of payment from Lumos Learning in many months. As I was exploring education companies on Wikipedia, I realized Lumos was missing and decided the add. The article is completely neutral, and again, is based on the format of several other competing companies articles that currently exist on Wikipedia. Please advise.

The article you've submitted doesn't read like an encyclopedic article written from a neutral point of view, it feels like a promotion for the company and it's products. This can be extremely difficult to shake for an editor with COI. I'd recommend you not edit this article and leave for another editor.--RadioFan (talk) 05:41, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @RadioFan:, How do you recommend another editor edit this article? It's not live for another to see.
See Wikipedia:Requested articles, if another editor agrees with you that this is a notable topic that should have an article, they will pick up the request and work on it.--RadioFan (talk) 15:33, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
