YourMechanic
[edit]Hi Matt, I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your edits at YourMechanic because it didn't seem quite right for an encyclopedia entry. Articles should primarily be based on reliable secondary sources, rather than primary sources and company websites (except for basic statements of facts). The edit at YourMechanic read a bit like a brochure for the company. Let me know if you have any questions. Best, Politanvm talk 01:08, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Article creations and insistence
[edit]Hi Matt the Mech,
Thanks for your article submissions. With the above-described rejection, a point has been reached where enough reviewers have agreed. Further attempts to negotiate the decision would likely be seen as a disruptive rejection of community concerns, and as a failure to get the point (described further down on the same guideline page).
You may have a conflict of interest or not – in the case I'm looking at, that doesn't really matter anymore. There won't be an article about Wrench, at least not one created by you. If you have a conflict of interest, that's a good additional reason.
I will provide standardized advice below to make sure the issue doesn't repeat with another topic. The advice about editors with a conflict of interest does apply to you even if you think it doesn't, as it describes a general issue that has been proven to exist with your editing independently of the cause. It applies to you even more than to other editors with a conflict of interest, as we can only assume their bias while yours has been demonstrated in practice. You'll need to treat any "discouragement" in WP:COI as a strict prohibition.
Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:10, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Matt the Mech. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:11, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
Paid editing
[edit] As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Matt the Mech, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Matt the Mech|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 19:26, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- ^ Answering this message is fine (and may be required if you actually receive, or have expected to receive, compensation). You can even do so while you're blocked.
- Please keep your answer focused on the point that is being asked about here, though, and do not continue to re-negotiate the draft rejection, which is independent of this paid editing concern. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:15, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
May 2023
[edit]{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:10, 2 May 2023 (UTC)- Please find something else to edit about. As I had tried to explain above, there will not be a Wikipedia article about Wrench created by you in the near future. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:11, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
