The Months of African Cinema Contest Continues in November!
Greetings,
Thank you very much for participating in the Months of African Cinema global contest/edit-a-thon, and thank you for your contributions so far.
It is already the middle of the contest and a lot have been achieved already! We have been able to get over 1,500 articles created in over fifteen (15) languages! This would not have been possible without your support and we want to thank you. If you have not yet listed your name as a participant in the contest page please do so.
Please make sure to list the articles you have created or improved in the article achievements' section of the contest page, so that they can be easily tracked. To be able to claim prizes, please also ensure to list your articles on the users by articles page. We would be awarding prizes to different categories of winners:
- Overall winner
- 1st - $500
- 2nd - $200
- 3rd - $100
- Diversity winner - $100
- Gender-gap filler - $100
- Language Winners - up to $100*
We are very excited about what has been achieved so far, but your contributions are still needed to further exceed all expectations! Let’s create more articles before the end of this contest, which is this November!!!
Thank you once again for being part of this global event! --Jamie Tubers (talk) 10:30, 06 November 2020 (UTC)

Request for help - Charlotte Cameron
Hi Megalibrarygirl! I'm wondering if you might be able to access the following article on Charlotte Cameron: https://www.oxforddnb.com/view/10.1093/ref:odnb/9780198614128.001.0001/odnb-9780198614128-e-62112 Cameron's life story is not well recorded in the sources I've found thus far, so I'm hoping this article could provide some more detail! Please and thankyou! MurielMary (talk) 11:08, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- MurielMary, I'm not Sue, but have e-mailed it to you. SusunW (talk) 16:37, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks SusunW! If you need anything else, MurielMary, let me know. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 18:15, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- De nada, Sue. It takes a village to find sources for women. SusunW (talk) 18:34, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- Belated thanks to you both, much appreciated! MurielMary (talk) 20:49, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

New, simpler RfC to define trust levels for WikiLoop DoubleCheck
HI Megalibrarygirl/Archives/2020/November,
I'm writing to let you know we have simplified the RfC on trust levels for the tool WikiLoop DoubleCheck. Please join and share your thoughts about this feature! We made this change after hearing users' comments on the first RfC being too complicated. I hope that you can participate this time around, giving your feedback on this new feature for WikiLoop DoubleCheck users.
Thanks and see you around online,
María Cruz

Azeline Hearne
Hi Megalibrarygirl! I just came across Azeline Hearne, a former slave from Texas. Her article definitely deserves attention. With your experience writing about historic black women in Texas, I thought you may be interested in expanding this. I'm sure you're working on other things, so absolutely no pressure if not! TJMSmith (talk) 15:43, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- TJMSmith, I have some good references on Black women in Texas. I'll see if she's in there. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 19:19, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- That would be fantastic! I see you've already started the expansion and it looks great! There is an entry authored by historian Dale Baum in American National Biography. It looks like the Hearne family was influential in the area considering it's now called Hearne, Texas. TJMSmith (talk) 20:33, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- TJMSmith, Thanks! It's a really sad story, actually, but I'm glad it's being told. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 21:43, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- @TJMSmith and Megalibrarygirl:, who would've thought that an article on the poll tax would result in so many new connections in the encyclopedia? I love how this is working. Thank you both for all you do to improve our coverage. SusunW (talk) 22:24, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

A kitten for you!
hi Megalibrarygirl, just seen the news about happenings in el-paso, hope everything is well, stay safe.
Coolabahapple (talk) 08:05, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, Coolabahapple! It's very weird because while I know this is going on around me, everyone in the neighborhood is acting like nothing is happening. Everyone is wearing masks (thank goodness), but no one is more worried or really changing their behavior... I think that's kind of bad. I wish the people in charge would do more. Kittens on Caturday always make things better, though! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 16:45, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- So glad to see this update, Sue. Please stay safe. SusunW (talk) 17:16, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- SusunW, thank you so much! I stay at home most of the time and hopefully will stay healthy! (fingers crossed!) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:41, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
