Election as a Guild of Copy Editors Coordinator

[edit]

Congratulations! You have been re-elected as a Coordinator of the Guild of Copy Editors for the second half of 2017, serving from July 1 until December 31. Please review the Coordinators' responsibilities and tasks at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Coordinators, and post on the corresponding talk page if you have any questions. Let me know if you have any questions (I don't imagine you will). – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:17, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Krishna

[edit]

I'm not doing something right at Krishna, and I need your or Jonesey95's help. I saw pending changes review needed, and I decided not to accept the edits by IP user 115. However, I did a simple "undo" because I thought I couldn't leave a comment if I simply rejected the revisions, and I added an edit summary. However, my edit summary didn't appear anywhere and the two edits by that editor were still listed as needing review. So then I tried the simple "reject" the pending changes and typed the same edit summary in the little box where it says "Comment", and saved. Again, I don't see my edit summary anywhere, and the changes are still listed as needed review. What am I doing wrong?  – Corinne (talk) 17:06, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have much pending-changes experience, but I reviewed and reverted; I think any pending changes have to be reviewed first. All the best, Miniapolis 19:49, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Quote box

[edit]

Are quote boxes all right, or are they discouraged?  – Corinne (talk) 16:19, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

According to {{Quote box}} they shouldn't be used in articles, but I can't think of any other place they would be used and have never seen an article fail GAN or FAC because of them. Decorative curly quotes should only be for pull quotes, and (like block quotes, which are preferable) any quotation marks should be removed since they're redundant. • A potentially compromised account from 2001–2002 attempted to request resysop. Please practice appropriate account security by using a unique password for Wikipedia, and consider enabling two-factor authentication. Currently around 17% of admins have enabled 2FA, up from 16% in February 2017.
  • Did you know: On 29 June 2017, there were 1,261 administrators on the English Wikipedia – the exact number of administrators as there were ten years ago on 29 June 2007. Since that time, the English Wikipedia has grown from 1.85 million articles to over 5.43 million.

Madhesh Comment

[edit]

Hi Miniapolis,

Good on you for doing a c/e on Madhesh. I tried back on 24.6.17 but failed. Well done. You should have danger barnstars.

Myrtle. Myrtlegroggins (talk) 04:14, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Myrtle, but I just started. If my edits are reverted for no good reason, I'll move on; there's plenty of other work to do. If they're content with the article as is, so be it :-). All the best, Miniapolis 13:23, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean, and tweaked {{GOCEreviewed}} to reflect the edit-warring :-). All the best, Miniapolis 21:11, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

UTRS #18661

[edit]

Hi, are you still actively reviewing this appeal, please? Just Chilling (talk) 15:32, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry; I reserved the appeal in error and have released it after emailing Aelimian21. You may want to check with Fuhghettaboutit (the blocking admin) or MaxSem, who locked the talk page. All the best, Miniapolis 16:02, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thx! Just Chilling (talk) 16:49, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Penny Pritzker

[edit]

Hello, Miniapolis - I just finished copy-editing Penny Pritzker, and I placed the GOCE template toward the end of the banner shell template on the talk page at Talk:Penny Pritzker, but it doesn't appear. I don't know what to change to get it to appear.  – Corinne (talk) 17:10, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, you can't put {{GOCE}} inside {{WikiProject banner shell}}; I fixed it. All the best, Miniapolis 17:16, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Miniapolis, for fixing it, but I put the GOCE template within the banner shell all the time with no problem. There is something I'm missing here, or I placed it in the wrong place. Redrose64, can you help?  – Corinne (talk) 19:50, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This was the wrong fix. The {{GOCE}} template can go inside {{WikiProject banner shell}}, but (like all other WikiProject banner templates) you need to put it in the correct parameter. In this edit, Corinne (talk · contribs) put it into the |blp= parameter, something which is intended for either |blp=no or |blp=yes - and nothing else. It should have been placed in the |1= parameter, like the others such as {{WikiProject Women}} (see this edit). Also, since Penny Pritzker is not dead, the |blp=yes should not have been removed; if having it last is confusing, it may be tucked away at the top without problem, like this. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 07:31, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see that I've covered something similar in the past, User talk:Corinne/Archive 24#Shaker Seed Company. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 07:37, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Redrose64!  – Corinne (talk) 23:56, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

[edit]

Thank you, Miniapolis, very much for saying that my efforts to improve and expand the article Elijah Daniel successfully demonstrate that it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. DIFF.

Especially during this trying period of time, I really appreciate your being so willing and kind to acknowledge the hours upon hours of research and writing that I've recently put into this.

Thank you. Sagecandor (talk) 23:27, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Golden Tea Room

[edit]

Hallo Miniapolis, would you be so kind and copyedit or request a guild member to copyedit this article Golden Tea Room? It is up for DYK, that is why the request is rather urgent. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you. Gryffindor (talk) 15:53, 20 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:GOCE/REQ#Instructions for requesters, the article should've been copyedited before the DYK was submitted. Sorry, but a) please see the top of this page; I don't do requested copyedits except those on the requests page, and b) everyone wants "their" article copyedited yesterday. List it on the requests page and someone will get to it ASAP; I'm busy with backlog articles at the moment. All the best, Miniapolis 16:49, 20 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I missed your note at the top, sorry about that. I have placed it in the request page, thank you for pointing it out. Gryffindor (talk) 17:11, 20 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please spell the name correctly.

[edit]

Wikipedia talk:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Maglioladitis 2.

It's User:Magioladitis.

I'd do the move, but I'm worried I'd screw something else up.

Glrx (talk) 17:44, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Currently both Evidence and Workshop are still at the wrong name. I'll leave it to you to move. ~ Rob13Talk 17:55, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed by Ks0stm; sorry for the typo, and thanks for bringing it to my attention. All the best, Miniapolis 18:41, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

GOCE

[edit]

I had listed an article at the GOCE. Would you like to copy-edit it? It's very near to the top. I would appreciate your gesture. Thanks!Krish | Talk 17:42, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but at the top of this page is a notice that I don't do copyedit requests other than WP:GOCE/REQ because I was besieged with requests. I'm not working on the requests page this month, but on the backlog. I'm sure your request will be done soon. All the best, Miniapolis 19:09, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
One of my articles is on top yet no one has really taken that up to edit. I can see other articles, which were listed below, were picked up and completed. I mean what is happening? Isn't there a rule to select articles based on the numbering? I am amazed.Krish | Talk 20:51, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
WP:VOLUNTEER; there's no such rule, and editors are free to copyedit whatever they like. Miniapolis 21:58, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
