Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Campaigns and Elections has been reverted.
Your edit here to Campaigns and Elections was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://twitter.com/C_and_E) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 03:26, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

advice

[edit]

I have just removed a good deal of promotionalism from this article, some recently inserted, some earlier.. We do not list the editorial board. We do not link to pages that just redirect to the article. We do not link the same phrase multiple times. We do not insert adjectivesof praise--though I left the ones that were in the direct quotation from the founder. I reformatted some of the material in accordance with our usual practice: I think it makes for a stronger and more professional article.

As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know. And keep in mind that the goal of an encyclopedia is to say things in a concise manner, which is not the style of press releases or web sites, which are usually more expansive.

When the 2013 prizes are announced, you can edit the article to remove the date of the awards, and add to the external link section, a link to the page that announces them. IOther than that, I strongly advise you not to edit directly, but suggest necessary changes on the article talk page, as our rules prescribe. DGG ( talk ) 06:47, 15 December 2012 (UTC) .[reply]
