The article Yannís G. Kevrekidis has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Mlzeeman, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits has not conformed to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and has been or will be removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media. Always remember to provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles. Additionally, all new biographies of living people must contain at least one reliable source.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome.  --Animalparty-- (talk) 17:36, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

So...

[edit]

... as you can see, your new articles have some problems. All biographies of living persons require sources. Additionally, if all you can say about a person is that he won an award (which, for neutrality, we can't describe as "prestigious"), then there really doesn't seem much point in having the article about them at all. (See WP:ACADEMIC for the criteria for inclusion for academics, or WP:ANYBIO for the criteria for any biography.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:38, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiDan61:: All of these articles are on people who appear to pass WP:PROF (e.g. by virtue of highly cited publications), the award in question may well be enough for WP:PROF#C2, and all of the issues with these articles are easily cleaned up. Wouldn't it have been more helpful to do that, and to thank Mlzeeman for helping improve our coverage of applied mathematicians and for choosing award-winners rather than random assistant professors, instead of biting the new editor? (And to Mlzeeman: thanks! Your new articles were indeed a little too minimal, but that's something you can easily improve for future article creations.) —David Eppstein (talk) 04:30, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
