Image copyright problem with Image:Seebohmcharadriidaecursoriusbitoxiii.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Seebohmcharadriidaecursoriusbitoxiii.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 23:57, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Regarding the above image. It would appear that this could have been marked as public-domain since the book was published in 1887. (See Henry Seebohm). I have marked it as such, but it would be good if you can check the same. Shyamal (talk) 04:41, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Dasycrotapha.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Dasycrotapha.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 00:00, 12 April 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 00:00, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
The image is taken from an illustration published 1878, copyright expired. I have further incorporated this information on the image file.
- You seem to be missing out on the author (with year of death), source (not the website, but the actual source which determines date of publication) and the license/copyright tag in this case
{{pd-old-70}}
I have added them but it would be better to upload to http://commons.wikimedia.org - so that it can be reused on multiple language Wikipedias. Shyamal (talk) 01:26, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Andean condor, you may be blocked from editing. UtherSRG (talk) 11:06, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
- I wanted to add a link to this page as I found that the material was relevant to the interests of the subject and to Wikipedia. I understand that the edit has been reverted, with the removal of the link itself. I want to know if it would be permissible for me, in my case, to post a new comment on the Wikipedia:Talk page for the Andean condor? This page is Talk:Andean condor
- I further assume that any other webpage projects which are in my name or username cannot be appended to the relevant Wikipedia pages. However, as my edits show, I assumed that this was permissible in the past. mmslouis. db-user db-user (talk) 17:17, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- See WP:PROMO and WP:LINKFARM. Don't post your blog here. If there are other links to website pages you own, they should also be removed. - UtherSRG (talk) 00:39, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
