Your AfD Closure
[edit]It seems like you prematurely closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Muslim Islamic jurists inproperly. To begin with, you stated that the consensus was speedy delete when no one voted that. Second, you seemed to have ignored the secondary articles (Muslim businessmen, Muslim leaders, etc) as they not only are not deleted, but they also still have the AfD templates on their page. I suggest you reopen the discussion (as there really is no consensus) and let people continuing dicussing the merits of the five articles. joturner 11:36, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
puzzled about deletion
[edit]I started an article on the band The Schwag. It was almost immediately deleted for being "non-notable". I don't understand why, since it should pass according to the following criterion:
"Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or the local scene of a city (or both, as in British hip hop); note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability."
They have been playing the Midwest scene since the 80's and are the "most prominent representative" of the rock jam style in the Midwest. Everybody who is into this style of music around here knows who they are and what Schwagstock is. I was getting ready to add pictures and the article disappeared.
Deletion of article on Sidney Fooks
[edit]I am very saddened by your decision to delete the article on Sidney Fooks. There were 7 votes to retain/keep the article and only 4 to delete it. There are no copyright problems whatsoever - this issue should never have been raised.
A huge amount of time and effort obviously went into the article and it is of undoubted historical interest to those who study the First World War and to those whom he taught over a lifetime's career as a teacher at the Harrow County School in Middlesex, England. The Grammar School no longer exists as such, although the buildings are still used today for a Comprehensive School, but there is a huge Harrow County School historical archive in a room in the original building, there are annual Remembrance Day services for those old boys that gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars and there is a very active web site run by Jeffrey Maynard in New York. There are annual reunions and dinners when old boys travel from all over the world to meet each other. The life story of this particular former teacher of the School who lived to such an exceptional age will always be of interest to former pupils - that was how I found the Wikopedia article, from a link on the Harrow County web site.
I have, since reading the article, done some new research and found his name mentioned in a number of entries in the London Gazette which I could have added. Also, as I mentioned before it was deleted, the article may stimulate research into the citation for the award of his Military Cross.
I ask you to please reconsider your decision and reinstate this article. Thank you.
Philip Levi.
ElAmericano image
[edit]As discussed on my talkpage before, the image you deleted was perfectly legal for me to use. It was a simple screenshot of a word on my computer, not even any software. Please restore it ASAP. - ElAmericano (dímelo) 15:30, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry about the header. I forgot to put [[:Image... etc.]]. As to the image, I think I'm the one who accidentally qualified it as "fair-use" because I saw the word screenshot and decided to use it. Now, I've tagged it as it should have been - an image I created. (The font is a free one.) Thanks for the explanation, though. I was really frustrated. - ElAmericano (dímelo) 20:10, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Your welcoming UBox
[edit]I noticed your friendly-towards-newbies userbox, and saw that the "Leave a message here directed one towards Adam1213's talk page, instead of yours. You may have copied it off his page, but now I suggest you fix it up a little, just so people aren't confused. Thanks! Jfingers88 04:30, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

vandalism counter
[edit]I think you might have to up it again....
I (and some other people) reverted the obvious vandalism. The one change I wasn't sure about was the random addition of the word furry to your user page from an anon IP. It doesn't make sense in context, but it also doesn't make sense as vandalism. I've decided to play it safe and do nothing and leave it for you. --Bachrach44 03:36, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
VandalProof 1.2 Now Available
[edit]After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:57, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

RfA thanks!
[edit]Thanks for voting! Hello Mo0/Archive 4, and thank you so much for voting in my recent RfA. I am pleased to inform you that it passed with a final tally of (119/1/3), into the WP:100, so I have now been cleared for adminship and will soon be soaring above the clouds. I was overjoyed, shocked, and humbled by the tally, and, most importantly, all the support. Thank you. If there is ever anything you need, you know where you can find me. Take care. |

[edit]You are one of 3 members of a dispute in this article. I will revert all changes made untill this is resolved, and consider it vandalism. I have left a similar note on the other two disputees talk pages as well. Thanks for your cooperation. False Prophet 01:29, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Not wheel warring...
[edit]Hi Mo0! You, me and a couple of others were just busily deleting a raft of Outer Limits episodes as copyvios. Most of them were, but a couple were the nominator being a bit overzealous. Therefore I've undeleted two things you deleted: Lithia (episode) and Double Helix (episode) - neither of which have substantive material copied from the website in question (and what material might have been copied is also available in a dozen other places anyway).
I didn't want you to think I was wheel-warring or being a dick about it so I thought I'd let you know! Cheers mate! ➨ ЯEDVERS 20:31, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

How are you compensated for being up at three o'clock in the morning stopping jerks like me from vandalizing Wikipedia? I'm just curious. I can't imagine anybody would do it just for fun, because it doesn't seem that fun. If you got paid or compensated with free punch and pie, then I would understand.

O-TOWN'S AT
[edit]1) I did not threaten anyone, 2) You were brought in or joined on this as a third party so maybe you should know that I work to stop vandalism. I don't have any intention of vandalising any pages and the mistake I made I originally apologized for. 3) I don't appreciate your hawking me at all. It is annoying so stop. Just because you are an admin, doesn't mean that you can be a dick yourself. O-TOWN'S AT 07:11, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Regarding your warning to this user on his talk page, he has persisted in removing warnings again today. I think he might benefit from a 24 hour block. He seems to be using Wikipedia as a sort of lonely hearts club; see [1], [2], [3].
(That first one worries me the most)
He has also encouraged another user to vandalise [4], threatened us with his "admin friends", violated WP:NPA. What do you think? I could take it to ANI if you prefer. --Guinnog 17:42, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- I see he's been indef blocked now. Good. --Guinnog 17:55, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Not a problem. It's always good to feel one is not alone on things like this. --Guinnog 18:58, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
You've got a Thank you card!
[edit]Dear Jay, thank you so much for your beautiful words, your kidness and your trust in me. My Request for Adminship is finally over, and the support and appreciation that the community has gifted me will stick in my mind as long as I live. I have no way to properly express how grateful I am to you for all you've done for me, and all I can tell you is, I'll try not to disappoint you nor anyone else with my use of the buttons... and if I mess up, make sure to come here and give me a good yell! :) Seriously, tho, if you ever need my help, either for admin-related stuff or in any other way, you'll always be welcome to message me, and I promise I'll try my very best.
Dear Jay, this is the perfect opportunity to finally speak to one another after reading your words for months and months. I am sure that we'll be able to talk often, and trust me, it'd be my pleasure. Both your contributions and, most important your warm way to deal with others made me notice you long, long ago; and being supported by a person I look up to, like you, meant the world to me. I must tell you, your enthusiastic support made me both blush and laugh wholeheartedly - I felt so undeserving of such great praising! :) For that beautiful gesture, I'll always be in your debt. I sincerely hope this is but the beginning of a friendship, and such thought fills me with joy :) With a big hug, your friend,

[edit]i dont believe i actually did remove anything. nothing i recall anyways. sorry if i did.
The above AfD was closed by you back in mid-July as a delete. An article with the same name, The Daily Newsletter has been recreated this past weekend. I am wondering how it can be confirmed if this is the same content thus qualifying for a speedy tag. If not, it would need to go through a second AfD because it is different content. Unfair Accusation of Vandalism
[edit]This individual has recently unfairly accused me of vandalism. I made what I felt to be an informative contribution to the gayle king page, which he apparently didn't agree with. This individual is a poor quality moderator who seems to like to abuse his powers, which I feel he should have revoked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.160.121.83 (talk • contribs) 00:27, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

You closed the above Afd as delete back in July/06. An article has been created Oct 8th and I consider it to be just as non-notable as it was previously, but wonder if it would quality under speedy. Would you be willing to review the content of the deleted entry and the current entry to determine if it is a reposting or should be re-nominated at Afd. Thanks.--Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 23:56, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
