I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Natalie Meisner, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. Based on a conversation on IRC channel #wikipedia-en-help it appears you made the all-too-common newcomer mistake of naming your user account after your initial subject. Hello NatalieMeisner. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Of course I'm allowed to ask how you would describe your relationship. It's then up to you to decide how you wish to answer, and what terminology you wish to use to describe it.

I ask this because your previous response only stated that you are not being paid for this editing. You might be writing about yourself, or your close personal acquaintance, or perhaps your cousin. None of these would involve payment (presumably), but they would all constitute clear conflicts of interest (COI), which must be disclosed. Now, arguably I could simply ask you if you have a COI, but experience shows us that many editors' understanding of what is or isn't a COI is markedly different from Wikipedia's definition of it. That is why it is more useful to ask how would the editor describe their relationship to the subject in their own words.

I should also add that the fact that your earlier username was that of the person you're writing about, is an immediate COI red flag, as it suggests an autobiography. However that came about, and whatever your reasons for selecting such a username (and I must say your explanation of this at the AfC help desk further confused, rather than clarified, the matter), it would be remiss of me to not inquire, at least. Like I stated before, I wrote my username as the article title, as this is my first time writing a Wikipedia Page and I made an error. My name is Michelle and I just wish to get this done. She is not a close personal friend and not someone I know well - she is an author who does not have a page up in regard to her work and I wanted to be the one who wrote it, as I deem it is good practice as a writer myself. Your draft has improved somewhat since I looked at it earlier today. You now have some inline citations where before you had none. The trouble remains that nearly every sentence of the draft needs to cite a published source for verification. External links in the body text must either be removed, that is, unlinked, or converted to proper inline citations or, when a suitable target article exists, to a wikilink (or internal link).

The career section looks too much like a CV or resume when presented as bullet points, a style that is deprecated on Wikipedia.

The piped link [[Poet laureate|5th Poet Laureate of Calgary]] is improperly done: you should not have included 5th and Calgary as part of the text of the link. And, it needs a citation for verification. There's guy whose page I edited who declared himself the poet laureate of Calumet City, newsworthy perhaps as a stunt but not all that helpful for building notability. — jmcgnh^{(talk) (contribs)} 23:50, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
