Your admin request
[edit]I regret to say that I have closed your RfA early as per WP:SNOW. I have included a summary of the opinions cast in my reason for doing so, which was essentially 'get some more experience before trying again'. You have been very brave in putting yourself in the spotlight here after so short a time of editing WP. Most people wait between six-to-twelve months before trying for an RfA and they are not alway successful either. Strategies for improving your profile for another RfA include:
- contributing effectively to articles. This includes finding references and citations for facts in reliable sources, something that is essential for an encyclopedia.
- Working on the Good Article Drive, Good Article Collaboration of the week and the Article Creation and Improvement Drive.
- Patrolling the New pages and Recent changes special pages for vandalism; tagging the pages according to the criteria for speedy deletion and warning the vandals.
- Reporting repeat vandals for admin intervention.
- Joining a Wikiproject or finding a portal on a subject in which you are interested and contributing through that.
- Assisting at the Help and Reference desks.
- Welcoming new users.
- Becoming adopted or, when you are more experienced, adopting new users to assist them in learning about Wikipedia.
These are just some of the ideas for making effective contributions to the project. You can also see Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia for more ideas. Regards and good editing, --Majorly (o rly?) 20:48, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Username
[edit]My concern about your username (Nickelodeon Rocks)
[edit]Hello, Nickelodeon Rocks, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia!
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?A user name impersonating a celebrity is not allowed, you should consider changing it.
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as asking for a "third opinion", or requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Admins usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- If you decide to just go ahead and change your username, it is possible for you to keep your present contributions history under the new username: simply request a new name here following the guidelines on that page, rather than creating a whole new account.
Let me reassure you that my writing here means I don't think your username is grossly, blatantly, or obviously inappropriate; such names get reported straight to Wikipedia:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism (WP:AIV), or blocked on sight. This is more a case where opinions might differ, and it would be good to reach some consensus -- either here or at WP:RFC/NAME. So I look forward to a friendly discussion, and to enjoying your continued participation on Wikipedia. Thank you again! -- AniMate 03:22, 21 February 2007 (UTC) AniMate 03:22, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Have you considered this may well be Nat Wolff? Majorly (o rly?) 17:41, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Then per [1], this user would note that on his/her talk page; then it would be confirmed by the foundation; usually via a phone call etc — Deon555talkdesksign here! 00:38, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Stuff about anything to do with Nickelodeon
[edit]WikiProject Nickelodeon
[edit]Hi Nat,
Since you play on your show on Nick, I suggest you sign up for WikiProject Nickelodeon. We're a bit desperate for some more people, so I was just wondering if you could sign up. We cover practically everything about Nick, so feel free to share your info.
You have a great show! — JuWiki (Talk <> Resources) 02:48, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Username again
[edit]I'm sorry, but I really think you have to change your username. You admitted on my page that you were not Nat Wolff, but a friend of his. I have no way of knowing if you are in fact his friend or not, but your name implies that you are him. You are not. Also, the real Nat Wolff should not contribute things about the Naked Brothers Band, as that would be a conflict of interest. If you're his close friend, then we have another conflict of interest. Here's a link to change your username. I hope you don't think I'm being mean, but there are certain rules every Wikipedian must follow. AniMate 00:16, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hello there. I saw your request on Wikipedia:Changing usernames, and like AniMate, I'm concerned. First, we try to avoid having fan-style names on Wikipedia; it tends to cause people to assume things about others, for example, that they are only interested in a specific subject because that's what their username is about. Second, conflict of interest isn't avoided by having your friends write for you; that's called proxying, and it doesn't address the problem with a conflict of interest, specifically, that people (and thier friends) have trouble writing neutrally about themselves, and on Wikipedia, everything has to be written from a Neutral Point of View. I think what would be best here is for you to pick a username that doesn't have to do with this subject, perhaps a nickname or other creative option, and change to that. If you are indeed closely affiliated with this individual, the best thing for you to do would be to not make edits about him on his behalf, but rather, have his public relations team contact our office. You're welcome to have them email us at info-en@wikimedia.org. Warm regards, Essjay (Talk) 00:37, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Since I have no purpose I don't need to use wikipedia, so can you change my username to User:Nickelodeon Rocks (Talk)??? Nat Wolff 00:51, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have done so. Please don't feel like you don't have a purpose here; there are 6,916,001 on Wikipedia, so having a conflict of interest with regard to one particular person doesn't mean there isn't anything here to do. For example, I have a number of friends who have articles here, and it would be a conflict of interest for me to edit them, but there are thousands and thousands of other things to do. I hope you'll look into some of the other opportunities and won't let this discourage you. Essjay (Talk) 01:05, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
im the coolest person!

An article you created is up for deletion. You can find the debate here. If you're able to source the article and prove notability most editors who are recommending to delete would be willing to change their minds... including me. AniMate 06:43, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
