Non-English contributions

[edit]

Prašome nerašyti teksto lietuvių kalba anglakalbiame Vikipedijos projekte. Tokie tekstai yra laukiami lietuviškoje bei žemaitiškoje Vikipedijose.
Please do not contribute text in Lithuanian to English Wikipedia. Your contributions are more than welcome at Lithuanian (Lithuanian language) and Samogitian (Samogitian dialect) Wikipedias. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 06:48, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems identified with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:06, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you cannot see any difference in principle between our article on BMW and what you wrote, you lack the competence required to contribute to Wikipedia. Huon (talk) 13:26, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Can you, please, explain?

The only "general similarity" between your page and the BMW article was that they were both black letters on a white background. They differ in all important particulars: Firstly, what you wrote was not in English; this is the English Wikipedia. You were notified of that issue above. Secondly, unlike the BMW article, which summarizes what independent sources have reported about that company, your page did not cite any sources whatsoever. As a consequence, there was no indication that the company meets Wikipedia's standards of notability, and the content was not verifiable. Thirdly, the tone of what you wrote was blatantly promotional, advertising your company. Wikipedia is not free ad space. Huon (talk) 14:06, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your pretty quick answer, Huon! You confirmed my fears that the article is not so informative. And for what it was blocked - as you also noticed - BMW will not block (reason: that the account represents a business or other organisation or group). It means only one - they are big and strong, and for them is allowed to make advertisement in any tone and at the end of the BMW and similar turn Wikipedia to free ad space for those purposes.

--- odo.lt ---

You were blocked (in part) because your userrname represents a company. We don't have a User:BMW; the article about BMW was written by independent volunteers, not by company staff. At the end of the BMW article you'll find a "problems" section; that doesn't remotely look like an ad to me. Even if that article also were problematic, that would still not be an excuse to create more inappropriate pages. Huon (talk) 15:41, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This blocked user is asking that their block be reviewed on the Unblock Ticket Request System:
