Image:Tami stronach2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tami stronach2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 19:34, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Kathleen robertson.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kathleen robertson.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Oden 23:00, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Tami_stronach1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Tami_stronach1.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 20:53, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Oneilius: Notability of this company[edit]

Thank you for pointing me in the direction of WP:Notability_(organizations_and_companies), which explains what might qualify why this company may fail WPNCORP. I may have just missed the link previously, but I had felt like there was no explanation provided, so I was unsure what was wanted. Upon review of these guidelines, I believe the only discussion really had about this company (in general) is the controversy surrounding its former subsidiary (Lace Mamba Global), which has been dissolved into the parent company, and the company's voluntary liquidation in 2015. At the time I wrote the article (I only contribute occasionally on Wikipedia), I only had seen that the previous article (for Lace Mamba Global) had been deleted because it was almost wholly written as an advertisement; I was unaware of the notability requirement. When User:SwisterTwister posted the automatic deletion tag, the explanation was "Searches found nothing at all to suggest anything or enough for independent notability for its own article; nothing else convincing" but it did not point me to anywhere explaining what was required for notability.

This said, I wonder about the notability of several other companies found on Wikipedia, such as Deep Silver. Does a mere mention by another company (such as a report on games at PAX) qualify it for notability? The article for Deep Silver, for instance, does not appear to demonstrate that the company as "had any significant or demonstrable effects on culture, society, entertainment, athletics, economies, history, literature, science, or education." Does simply publishing games from development studios satisfy this guideline? This is not intended as a complaint, but rather a line of questions for better understanding.

My confusion comes from how other articles not being slated for deletion differ from this one. Companies such as Microsoft, Nintendo, and Apple make sense to me, but I don't think those like Deep Silver or Focus Home Interactive have had any significant or demonstrable effects on entertainment, other than that independent video game developers have been able to get their games published (which is the same that Lace International has done). Can you help me understand the difference?

I also apologize for WPREFBOMBing the article. As mentioned before, I don't create or edit a lot on Wikipedia, so I did not realize I was overusing citations. I have removed a large number of these from the article. Should this page remain on Wikipedia, please let me know if there are still too many references.

Oneilius (talk) 06:13, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

Hey Oneilius, here are some answers but let me know if I missed something important. WP:42 is the best place to start (articles require(significant coverage in multiple reliable, independent sources) because its links are descriptive. The secondary notability criteria come after this "general" notability guideline, mainly to save us from having long discussions when the sources presumably exist for famous entities of a certain stature. (That said, I'm personally opposed to the latter.) So, as sourced, Deep Silver has sourcing issues, but the expectation would be to try to source it before attempting to delete it (look for reliable sources in the video game reliable sources custom Google search). I would wager, without going through the results, that enough has been written on Deep Silver's history to warrant an article but perhaps not. Sometimes an article is kept in a deletion discussion despite being in terrible shape. That's because the discussion is really about whether we have enough good sources to write a decent article on the subject, so there is no commitment to who necessarily does the cleanup. Send me a {{ping}} if you have any more questions or check out some of the links (such as the video game project talk page) in the welcome message below. czar 04:57, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Video games[edit]

Hey Oneilius—thanks for your recent contributions. I noticed your interest in Wikipedia's video game content and thought you might be interested in the video games WikiProject. We've done some great work (over 300 pieces of Featured content and over 1000 Good articles), but there is plenty more to do. Come say hello on our talk page, participate in our current events, or let me know if I can help with anything. Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope I'll see you around. czar 04:57, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thank you, for uploading this file.

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm some details,

If it's your own work, please include {{own}}, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes to the {{media by uploader}} or {{presumed_self}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

If it's not your own work please provide as much sourcing/authorship information as you are able to.

It would also be appreciated if you could "claim" or update the source and licensing on other media you uploaded, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

This will assist those reviewing the many many "free" images on commons that have not yet been transferred to Commons. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:12, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Lace International Ltd logo.png[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Lace International Ltd logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:40, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
