Just wanted to talk 2142 with you

Just saw your edit and while I am almost positive that Global Warming played no part in the ice age I am interested in finding sources for a replacement to that piece of the article. I heard that the new ice age was caused by events, in or at the end of, the previous Battlefield game which did in fact cause a nuclear winter as you suggested which is supported by the opening cinematic of the game which clearly show a number of bright flashes on the surface of the earth which are consistent with the proposed appearance of a nuclear detonation from space. --EpicWizard (talk) 02:56, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Why revert me? You do know I'm an admin and had every intention of deleting the page myself in a couple of mins.Theresa Knott | The otter sank 18:14, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I just get really nervous when the tags get taken off of articles that clearly meet the criteria. I probably got a bit ahead of myself patrolling so many pages so quickly. (I'm used to people objecting to AfDs and so on with silly if non completely nonsensical justifications and its kindof a reflex action) If you remove it again I won't put it back.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 18:18, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I patrol recent changes a lot but I do it slowly. No need to rush or you can get jaded. Anyway I'm pleased to say the the original author has responded by starting to write an article there, which is what I was hoping for as the subject looks interesting. Theresa Knott | The otter sank 18:22, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
It does, and I hope it turns out well, but I have OR concerns about the tone its taking so far. Hopefully with some minor poking on that issue the proper wording and citations will find their way into place. --Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 18:23, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
OR can easily be fixed by wikipedian editing the article. The topic itself doew IMO merit an article (though not necessarily with that title). Theresa Knott | The otter sank 18:27, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Speedy finger

Hello Oni. I've removed the transwiki tag you just placed on newly-created Oshi. I'm still working on it and when I'm done it won't be just a mere dictionary definition... Thanks. Regards, Húsönd 18:30, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Initial D Extra Stage 1 DVD.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Initial D Extra Stage 1 DVD.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:53, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Please review WP:MUSIC. Individual songs are not notable on their own because notability is not inherited and WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a valid argument against this.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 20:00, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
So why did someone create the Mama Africa article from Akon and it was accepted? D@rk talk 20:01, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Just because it was accepted doesn't mean it meets the inclusion criteria. All it means is that it was either overlooked, meets the specific song criteria on WP:MUSIC, or has otherwise avoided its fate. Per WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS, just because something exists doesn't mean it is justified in doing so, or that it justifies the existence of other similar articles. Just because the police don't pull the guy in front of you over for speeding doesn't mean they can't pull you over. Also, please take a look at WP:OWN, as there seems to be an article ownership issue here.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 20:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes but there are also many songs created in Wikipedia. See Electrical Storm for example. D@rk talk 20:10, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Do not take this personally, but your argument is falling on uninterested ears. I have made my mark on the issue, the fact that other articles about similar junk that also violate the rules exist do not excuse it in this particular case. If anything, those articles might warrant deletion too, and if I get around to it, I'll tag them. It doesn't change this case. Also, why do you care so much about a single song article?--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 20:14, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Because I love these singles. Well, sounds like you have to inform an admin about the article, I've created. If this is really junk, then please tell that admin to do so. D@rk talk 21:31, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

AIV

You reported Anth_92 (talk · contribs) to WP:AIV for removing speedy tags "after being asked not to repeatedly", but he had received no warnings. Fair enough, thank you I seem to have gotten ahead of myself thinking of the editor below (which I believe I did warn on his talk page).--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 20:00, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Nesfiles

The NES Files is a fully legitimate site that's been around since 1996(domain since 1999), just as many sites linked to from NES topics. Take the main Nintendo Entertainment System page for example-- the link to classgaming.com. That site has ROMs for even more games than The NES Files does. Shall I go through and find all the sites that violate these no-ROM rules? The NES Files provides full color PDF manuals for NES games-- not something other sites do, and this is very useful for people with old NES games, as they're not sold anymore. As for the comment, if Wikipedia is going to do its users a dis-service and delete links to quality content such as these manuals, I'd like the comments on the user talk page that I consider libelous to be removed. Libel is libel, controversial or not. Dkalweit (talk) 21:31, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Well that's just too bad. If I had a nickel for every time someone came to me upset that their favorite precious fan site was taken off and used the tired WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS argument to defend it I'd have myself a nice 12 bedroom mansion by now. Roms of copyrighted games are illegal, as are these "full color copies" of the manuals, regardless of the last time the game was published or supported. Passing off copyright violations as "quality content" may be your prerogative, but there are plenty of sites OTHER than Wikipedia where you can do that. If someone really wants to find these sites they can stop being lazy and use Google.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 21:46, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Blocked

You have been blocked from editing for a short time in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating the three-revert rule . Please be more careful to discuss controversial changes or seek dispute resolution rather than engaging in an edit war. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

Nakon 16:44, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

unblock|1=If you look closely you will see that I was reverting vandalism and personal attacks by a user both on my talk page and at the article in question. The user was removing templates added to the article after being asked to stop by MORE THAN ONE other editor. If it is necessary I can provide a comprehensive list of diffs as to why this was simply vandalism reversion. I have tried to resolve the matter civilly and other editors have agreed with my on the talk page that the user in question is making edits against wikipedia policy. Editors in agreement that users edits are destructive (hence I was reverting vandalism)[1] [2]

Hi there Oni Ookami Alfador

Thanks for changing the speedy delete notice to a PROD notice on American Safari Cruises. I appreciate your work at new page patrol. Please, though, consider using Edit Summaries for your changes. If you'd like, you can go to your Preferences tab (at the top of your page) and then click on Editing. Once on that tab, you can then checkmark Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary to be sure that you leave a brief summary of what you are doing to a particular article. It helps other editors know what you are changing in any particular article without having to look at diffs. Very helpful to you also, because when you look at your own contribs, you'll be able to see where you've been, and what you've done, much more easily. Thanks for your contribs, Keeper | 76 21:21, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Actually I had used an edit summary. The second edit which doesn't have one was simply a typo correction. I generally feel if something is that minor (to warrant it being marked as such)there is no point in including an edit summary in the first place. Thanks though. --Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 21:24, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, Mike (I looked at your userpage). I want to apologize if I sounded condescending there. It was not my intention. Now that I look, Yes, you did use an edit summary, as you usually do. I was too quick to judge. What I saw was two edits w/o an ED and I jumped right to your talk page without looking at contribs. Again, sorry. Happy editing, I'm leaving now with my proverbial tail tucked between my proverbial legs....Keeper | 76 21:32, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
No apology needed. You're doing the right thing by bringing it up in the first place, even if it does lead to a false alarm or two. Most people (myself included) are frequently too lazy or preoccupied to even bother leaving such advice.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 21:34, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your understanding. I'm de-watchlisting" now. Cheers, Keeper | 76 21:36, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

WROO

Thank you for fixing the title of the WROO page. For whatever reason, I always seem to have problems making the call letters appear in ALL CAPS. Rookie editor, I guess. LOL I'm learning, though! I work in the radio industry, so that's where I hope to be a major contributor to Wikipedia, once I learn all the ins and outs! Thanks, again!--InDeBiz1 (talk) 15:56, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

No problem. For a second I did a double take I was looking at it going "what the hell is a wroo?" before I realized it was for a station.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 15:57, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Speedy/CSD

While it is not particularly good practice, there is nothing in either WP:AFD or WP:CSD that states the two cannot be attempted simultaneously. Its not a big deal but you may want to consider refraining from closing these debates early, since in cases that are not covered by WP:SNOW it can be seen as stepping on other editor's toes. Personally I'd advise not to do anything until the speedy works its way through, which is generally quite rapidly anyway.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 20:49, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I know that Speedy and CSD can overlap. If you're talking about Ignition (band), I closed that AfD because the article was already deleted by the time I got to closing it. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 21:06, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
My bad. Should have realize the same whack-job keeps creating the article over and over like so many other useless myspace bands.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 21:10, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Actually, it didn't get re-created at all; the speedy deletion got overturned by another admin. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 21:12, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm the guilty party here, Oni Ookami Alfador, not TPH. I'll stop typing with my forehead. There is an AfD that is muddling along that you are welcome to participate in (this isn't canvassing, I think you already know about it). It's here. thanks, Keeper | 76 21:25, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, if I had my way all this junk would hit CSD to begin with but since that will never happen (and for good reason!) I'll go put my dime in on the AFD.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 21:35, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you but can you please delete all my comments over at the discussion and talk area? :(

I'm still new here and I have a hard time to understand certain things to post something but after all the grief a user is giving me, I would like to have all my comments removed. Please?? :( I don't know if you can do that but can you please do this? :(

Thanks for your time.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Legacy 1 (talkcontribs) 14:13, 18 January 2008

Wiki on iPhone.

Just to update:

Support for the link added in r29942 ($wgAppleTouchIcon, defaults to false/none).

Have created an initial icon for Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/apple-touch-icon.png

Request for your oversight regarding Matrix Online article dispute

As you probably know, a fanboy or two has resorted to personal attacks against you (and now myself as well) as the primary excuse to keep reverting back to the content that has been removed repeatedly for reasons of which you are already aware. In response to my attempt to keep the page free of the disputed content until it is properly rectified, the user Dibol has begun an automatic reversion policy. I'm not interested in an editwar, and consulting this user's discussion area, it appears he/she has pulled this same tactic before with other articles, resulting in admin blocks and so forth. Is page semiprotection warranted here? A temporary block? Not sure how to properly proceed, thanks in advance for your help. KymBarrett2 (talk) 03:33, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Honestly I find the personal attacks amusing at best. It's generally not something I worry myself about too much. Since multiple users seem to be acting against this person's position, it is likely that he/she will wind up with a WP:3RR ban if they continue. If you feel the personal attacks are worthy of admin intervention, WP:ANI would probably be the proper place to do it. There is a separate noticeboard for 3RR violations I believe but I'm not sure what it is offhand. Whatever you do just don't respond in kind with the name calling or do anything that could be construed as goading him/her along. That could get you into trouble or nullify any charges against them--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 07:09, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for responding. I also could care less about the personal attacks and have no intention of responding likewise, but it is the usual indication that any hope for a resolution is gone. KymBarrett2 (talk) 22:11, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Is this article ready to move to Wikipedia without being deleted?

I would say it is. Notability appears to be established and everything is well source. The best way to go about it would be to make a page move to the proper location. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Initial D Extra Stage 1 DVD.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Initial D Extra Stage 1 DVD.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:18, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Earth (Ace Combat)

An editor has nominated Earth (Ace Combat), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Earth (Ace Combat) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:00, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Initial D Logo.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Initial D Logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. asenine say what? 18:30, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Firefox talk page

It's not a very big deal, but it was rude to remove my comment like that. Someone had already notified me of the guidelines in the thread, so removing the whole thread like that wasn't necessary. Wikipedia is not paper and my comment wasn't disruptive. I was responding to something someone else wrote, anyway. The talk page guidelines are just that — guidelines. I'd choose more carefully what threads I remove. If a discussion isn't hurting anything, then try not to interrupt it. Do what you would in real life. Here's an analogy: If you see two people whispering to each other in a library, do you walk between them and tell them to be quiet? No. That would be inappropriate. I won't push this issue, though. I'm just giving you advice.--Hello. I'm new here, but I'm sure I can help out. (talk) 21:01, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

It's wasteful, its in the way, and quite frankly, you should know better. As for the people in the library (lord I hate these obscure metaphors), if they were out of line, as this discussion was, yes, indeed I would ask them to knock it off. --Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 12:54, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
I feel like I should also add that WP:PAPER doesn't apply to this, and it is often used to no end other than to shove a link in someone's face as an excuse to prattle on about things with no relevance to the encyclopedia. In any case, WP:PAPER is not for talk pages, it is a reference to ARTICLES, specifically, the inclusionist idea that when in doubt, a topic should be included (a philosophy I generally disagree with). There are a number of reasons talk pages don't apply here. For one, it clogs up the talk page. Users trying to work on improving the article have to deal with that crap, and when it shares space with legitimate article concerns, less focus is directed to those concerns. Wikipedia suffers image problems already, big ones, and to a large extent they come from the inability of its own editors to take it seriously, as is the case here. Then again, I can understand why you wouldn't understand that since you are clearly incapable of doing what is requested of you since you felt the need to bring this discussion here when it was on your talk page already.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 12:37, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
