Larry Hama

[edit]

Hi! Welcome to Wikipedia! Regarding your change of the Infobox photo, I do not agree with my friend and colleague, Tenebrae, in that I do not believe there is anything wrong with changing a photo unilaterally, as I change photos unilaterally all the time. My problem is that there doesn't seem to have been cause for the change, nor did you include any explanation, or any edit summary at all, which is expected of editors. No offense, but your photo is more poorly lit than the one already in the article, it's more out of focus, and Larry Hama is not facing the camera. If you disagree, we can start a discussion on the article's talk page, so let me know. In the mean time, I noticed that your pic was not categorized on the Commons, so I went and added it to the Larry Hama category. If you have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. :-) Nightscream (talk) 21:35, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I do consider Nightscream a valuable colleague and one of WikiProject Comics' best editors. On this one matter, he and I respectfully disagree. My take remains that for anything as important as replacing an infobox image, discussion is of paramount importance. Indeed, discussion is the very lifeblood of Wikipedia. Regardless, both Nightscream and I are always willing to help other editors, and we hope you'll stick around and, certainly, avail yourself of us and of Wikipedia's many other resources. Happy Wiki'ing! --Tenebrae (talk) 03:23, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Nightscream. I'm not sure if you read this or not. Thank you very much for your helpful input - it's a matter of aesthetics. The reason I replaced the pic is a personal preference (not mine alone) for non-posed photos - what I posted was a shot of Hama looking more enthused mid-conversation... but your lighting issues are valid as well. This one is also a more recent photo. Anyway, I don't want to fight over something like this, it seems silly. Also, thank you for 'assisting' a newbie and not 'biting' me. BTW, I thought I had entered some text for the change but I guess in pasting the file name it got lost. PermanentVacay (talk) 04:04, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Tenebrae, Nightscream is right that your attitude was very much in the spirit of how outsiders see wikipedia - you made a claim that, as far as I can still see, is not backed up by wikipedia policy. You used the royal 'we' to refer to your own personal beliefs regarding policy. It was very upsetting for me to see you revert that change so quickly - it did not seem like you were interested in assisting, and by your tone it did seem like you thought I was new. Do you not think that this is what happened? PermanentVacay (talk) 04:04, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There's not a policy or guideline for every one of a thousand different things an editor can do. I believe very much that major changes should be discussed; I do this myself: See Talk:Doctor Strange, for instance, or Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/Notice board/Requested moves/2011. Personally, I find it egoistic and not in the best interests of Wikipedia for users to insert poorly photographed images simply because they shot them. I'm sorry if this appears blunt, but judging from your own comment to me above, that appears to be the level of discourse you use and appreciate. I reiterate that I, and I'm sure any Wikipedia editor, would be happy to help in any way if asked. --Tenebrae (talk) 15:10, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This new article needs several third-party reliable sources to establish that it meets our notability requirements. Sources affiliated with the subject and simple event listings are not sufficient coverage to establish notability. Unless notability can be established, it is likely that the article will be deleted sooner or later. Yworo (talk) 20:50, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article The Encyclopedia Project has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:
The Encyclopedia Projectnews, books, scholar
Consequently, this article is about a subject that appears to lack sufficient notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JohnInDC (talk) 01:03, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Your opinion on what would be the best photo for the Infobox in the Grant Morrison article is requested here. Problems with upload of File:ChicoGsh.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ChicoGsh.png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or provided a license tag. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, select the appropriate license tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you can't find a suitable license tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:12, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Pet Bottle Ningen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Stone (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Greg Pak

[edit]

Hi. I just uploaded my pics from the September 9 Greg Pak signing, at which he had regrown his beard. I made sure to take some "angled" shots, because I know you prefer those. Can you tell me which ones you think would be best for the Infobox? Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 05:04, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I see now you haven't edited since October 6. I've selected one of the "candid" shots over one of the "portrait" shots (or "mug shots", as you called them), since you and others indicated during the previous discussion that you preferred those. (Ironically, one of the two portrait shots I took, he's not really smiling in one, and the one in which he is smiling is out of focus). If you don't like the I chose, we can discuss it when you return. Happy Holidays. :-) Nightscream (talk) 22:48, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Anderson Henderson White may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 1 "[]"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

The article Anderson Henderson White has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. — kikichugirl inquire 01:20, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Sweet & Sara

[edit]

The article Sweet & Sara has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
