Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2018 Rugby Championship, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Aaron Smith (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:20, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cricket infoboxes

[edit]

Hello. You'll probably want to read the documentation for the cricket infobox - you'll find it here: [[1]]. In particular, please note that:

  • we only have four columns worth of stats
  • we would only add T20I stats when the player's T20I career becomes significant in the context of their overall career. This is a judgement call, but if in doubt I'd leave the cols as Test-ODI-FC-LA.

Updating Cricket Record Lists

[edit]

Hello,

Thank you for all your edits on this page. However if you do any changes please make sure to change the date in the last update column towards the end of each table. Ankurc.17 (talk) 08:16, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. On a related note, you seem to update players' stats before they have been updated on Cricinfo. I assume you're making your own calculation for the batting average, as it's always out by at least 0.01 (example). Please do not update these figures until the source in the infobox (IE Cricinfo) has also been updated. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:15, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Please STOP updating stats until the source data has been updated to reflect the change. This is becoming disruptive, and can lead to your account being blocked from editing. Please reply here to state you have read and understood this. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:01, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You continue to do this after this warning was posted. Please STOP. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:08, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I apologise. I did not regularly check this page and therefore missed these comments. I understand your frustration and I will stop doing this from now on. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peter Williams 2001 (talkcontribs)

Information icon Hello, I'm C.Fred. I noticed that you recently removed content from 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Super 8 Group 2 without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please explain why you're removing qualified teams from the slots in which they are qualified.C.Fred (talk) 19:58, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Sorry, I should have explained why I removed that content. The reason is that the seedings given to Australia, India and South Africa are not actually set in stone yet. All those teams could finish either first or second in their groups, so it is premature to place in a particular Super 8 group already. In keeping with convention, we should wait until they have confirmed their seeding with 100% certainty.
Moving forward I will always make sure to clarify why I am making changes like this. Peter Williams 2001 (talk) 22:04, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What is your source for the ICC undoing their prior decision about the seedings for the top eight teams? —C.Fred (talk) 00:54, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here's the relevant passage from the source used in the article:
Eight teams have been allotted pre-decided seedings that they will retain for the Super Eight stage, provided they qualify. These teams, and their seedings, are:
A1 - India, A2 - Pakistan
B1 - England, B2 - Australia
C1 - New Zealand, C2 - West Indies
D1 - South Africa, D2 - Sri Lanka [2]
C.Fred (talk) 00:58, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I didn't properly understand the format. I thought that A1 meant the top-ranking team from Group A, A2 the second placed team, etc. The seeding method here is rather unusual which is why I made this mistake, but I should have checked.
Sorry about the mistake. Peter Williams 2001 (talk) 03:37, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
