Are you Karen Poppy?

[edit]

If yes, you must declare your conflict of interest status (see WP:COI). If no, then you must change your User name so as to not being falsely identified as KP. David notMD (talk) 05:53, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David,
I am Karen Poppy. I am fine adding the COI to my user profile, but I am not sure how to do it. I looked at the directions, and they were confusing. Could you please tell me how to do it? Poppy.karen (talk) 06:24, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did it for you. Also a touch of formatting. Wikipedia recommends not attempting autobiographical articles (see WP:AUTO), but does not forbid. Facts must be verified by reliable references. David notMD (talk) 11:35, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing the COI and formatting for me. Unfortunately, another reviewer rejected my Wikipedia article:
This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources.
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Too Soon?

[edit]

May be too soon (WP:TOOSOON) for there to be an article about you. What is needed as references are what other people have written about you. Your own website and inteviews are primary references, and as such, do not contribute to establishing your notability in the Wikipedia sense of the word. P.S. I have a Jewish, non-binary daughter in California. As a child, she was steeped in the world of poetery (her mother worked at Academy of American Poets and Poets House) but her love and career is creating miniature characters, props and scenery for stop-motion animation. David notMD (talk) 11:52, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

David, that's so great about your daughter, and thank you for being a supportive parent to her. Also, amazing that her mother worked at Academy of American Poets and Poets House.
There are reviews of my poetry and books published online. I'm not sure if those count, but other people wrote them about me/my poetry. Here are a couple examples:
https://culturaldaily.com/graphic-review-of-our-own-beautiful-brutality-by-karen-poppy/
https://sundressblog.com/tag/book-review/
Maybe this is a moot point after my article was rejected though. Poppy.karen (talk) 20:17, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It was not Rejected (more severe), but rather Declined. The fatal (?) weakness is lack of references about you. As it stands, the first comfirms your book exists. The last is your website - Wikipedia does consider what people write about themselves as establishing notability. Of the other two, one is basically a poem and an interview (interviews also not accepted as confirmming notability), and the other is short. Blogs are rarely considered reliable sourc references. See Dana Gioia, Timothy Steele, Mark Jarman, Rachel Hadas, R. S. Gwynn, Charles Martin, Phillis Levin and Brad Leithauser for examples of articles about poets further along in their careers.
