July 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Kalaripayattu. When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 07:00, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi. I have reverted your removal of content from Kalaripayattu again, and have noted my reason in the edit summary - even if something is Hindu in origin, that does not mean that non-Hindus have never practised it. Your removal has now been contested, so please do not do it again - please discuss it on the article talk page and try to get a consensus in support of your preferred version first. Also, you might find it useful to read WP:BRD. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 07:42, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I should also point out that claims that it has also been practised by Mappila Muslims and by Saint Thomas Christians are sourced (to "Mappila Muslims: a study on society and anti colonial struggles (2007), Hussain Randathani, Other Books, p. 70", and "Maritime India: trade, religion and polity in the Indian Ocean (2010), Pius Malekandathil, Primus Books, p. 46" respectively), so you would need to examine those sources and explain why they are wrong. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 07:49, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

YEs I agree, But It is a martial arts form originated from kerala, So dfefinitely keralites will be interested in that and they will practice, irrespective of religion. So it should be written as "Kalaripayattu was practiced by the people of kerala".The religion has nothing to do in that.

An encyclopedia article should reflect what has been written by reliable sources, and if we have reliable sources (which it appears we do) describing which groups of people practised it, how they participated in its development, etc, then that should go in the article - it is not for Wikipedia to decide who will want to read it and what they will want to see. If you disagree, what you need to do is discuss the changes you want on the article talk page and see if you get a consensus agreeing with you. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 08:52, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
PS: It also seems strange that you are now saying religion has nothing to do with it, when only an hour or so ago you said "Kalaripayattu is a hindu form of martial art.." in your edit summary where you removed mention of Muslims and Christians. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 08:59, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK ..I quit..... Boing! said Zebedee: 1 Psnttp:0  :)

But you have to understand the fact that there are some people who use wikipedia for propoganda purposes, like hijacking the local systems traditions and practices.. PS: I am not a fanatic kind of person.... :-)

Hi. Could you please review the page. I have added some refs

Orphaned non-free media (File:LocalRupee.com logo.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:LocalRupee.com logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hello Psnttp. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "LocalRupee.com".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code.
