Notability of Kit Dalton[edit]

A tag has been placed on Kit Dalton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Copyright concerns[edit]

Hi, not only at Kit Dalton do you appear to have merely copied text from other sources to construct the entire article, but you may have violated copyright policy at Thomas B. Turley. I've requested input re: the Dalton article, and have tagged the Turley, as well. Please address these concerns; editors are blocked for copyright violations. Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Hello Pwhitney, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.

It looks to me as though you copied the content from the Tennessee Encyclopedia of History and Culture to Find-a-Grave and subsequently to Wikipedia. I want to be sure you are aware that the content at your source page is fully copyright reserved, and that making use of it without license elsewhere can result in your facing personal legal issues, if the copyright owner chooses to pursue it. Our Terms of Use and copyright policies require that you only place content on our site which you create yourself or which you have legal right to license. (Find-a-Grave has similar requirements.) On Wikipedia, our policy is to remove such content when it is spotted, to protect copyright holders and our reusers, until proof of license is presented.

If you have license from the University of Tennessee Press such that you are able to comply with our Terms of Use, please follow the steps described at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
