My two cents: i think article should be named JOÃO MIRANDA and not MIRANDA, articles on subjects should have, when possible, a first name and a surname. Wayne Rooney, most of the times (during broadcasts, newspaper reports, his shirt name, etc), is known as "Rooney" solely, surely we are not going to move his WP article to "Rooney" are we? In Miranda's case the current page name would be a correct move if, let's say, it was a nickname or his full name was MIRANDA MANUEL APARECIDO (fictitious, just an example) and he was known by his first name.

I just blocked User:Gringoladomenega for edit warring. I am not going to block you, since you still have a clean block log, you were reverting to the original name, and you attempted to discuss first. However, SEVEN reverts in less than two days is not really what is expected here given that you were not reverting vandalism or BLP violations. Please never ever do it again. @84.90.219.128: I am willing to discuss a page move if done correctly, but the way it was moved to prove a point in an other article is not okay. No article should in any way be moved during a dispute and if controversial so then it should go through a request for move first. Also regarding the name everyone knows Rooney has the name Wayne Rooney whichis most commonly used and used by his team. However we have players like "Ronaldinho" instead of "Ronaldo de Assis Moreira" (his real name) and in this case club lists him as only Miranda. It is a question of WP:COMMONNAME. http://www.teamtalk.com/premier-league/top-assists is what I'd use for assists, and their stats are the same as I've seen elsewhere. Example: Ivanovic's pass to Costa last game was tipped and for some reason not scored as an assist. In terms of consensus, how would one go about doing that? Also for stats, should we just have one big table for apps, goals, etc?
I am not sure about the source, I see you can register and log in so who updates the stats? If it is user edited then it is not a reliable source (anyone can change the info) so I would not use it. League template change

I changed over the English league templates to the new format with the lay-out hidden in a sub-template. I think everything checks out, but having an extra pair of eyes checking over it wouldn't hurt if you would have some time for that. CRwikiCA talk 20:09, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

@CRwikiCA: That sounds great, I will take a look at it when I have some time to spare. I am still thinking about solution for easy way to add cup winner without touching the layout. The problem is the noqr parameter which currently needs to be updated manually and the rowspans which needs changing everytime.
My idea now is to have a paramter CupWinnerPos=0 (with position when there is a cup winner) and on every row have a qualification template. Then as a example for position 10 we can have "if CupWinnerPos=10 (fb cl-template here)" and do so on all the rows. A simple solution then is to dont have the rowspans (lets ignore that problem for now) and also for the noqr have ("if Cupwinner=0 have noqr on selected rows") and if we have a cupwinner have that colums on all subarticles. Then those numbers dont have to be changed manually everytime because that did not work at all last season (editors dont know how to update that when cupwinner changes position). What do you say about that as a start? Perhaps we can do same for all rowspans as for the noqr-parameter (if cupwinner=0 use them otherwise not). QED237 (talk) 23:43, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
With the sub-templates it easily becomes a real mess, especially if you would also add head-to-head results. That's why my suggestion is to not include it all in one master table for a Lua implementation, but have a separate key and list head-to-head results in footnotes. Until something like that would be in place we will need to deal with the old system. I agree it would need one line that will remain valid till the end of the season after the cup-winner is known. Because after that only a handful of games remain to be played (at most) it doesn't have to be set for all possibilities, so after the cup is over it can be hard-coded with the team name for the potential affected positions (also note that as of this season only the Cup Winner can make it into European football, the runner-up gets nothing). @CRwikiCA: Yes, the sub-templates can easily become a mess, but the head-to-head does not affect very much. I agree that one master template for a LUA might be a good idea, but I am not sure about the separate key part as there is a policy (not sure which) that say we should not only use colors as key since there are colorblind readers and the columns might still be a good idea. Regarding the cup winners the amount of matches left varies, in England whoch we have focused on know there is at least 11 matches left (may be more as postponed matches is common) and that is alomost a third of season and more than a handfull. A lot can happpen in those matches and cupwinner can move a lot in a (often) tight table just as Hull did last season. And to hardcode that might not be a good solution as it will be harder for editors to copy'n'paste to next season (and other table). We might as well code with a simple parameter know, it would almost be the same. Also as a decent programmer (I have taken lot of university coding classes in different languages) I am not that keen of hardcoding such things. I will make some test in sandbox later to see how "messy" it gets and I know about the runners-up, it can be solved in two ways, either call parameter "CupPos" and set "CupPos=6" when a top four team advances or have "CupWinnerPos" and have a switch on 6th place in layout that shows the qualification if pos is 1,2,3,4,5 or 6. You raise some valid points, especially with regard to copying to a future season. And with 11 games to go you might indeed want a more general solution. The way to make it least susceptible for good faith edit mistakes would be to have a parameter Cup_winner = AAA in the mean template and then determine its position in the lay-out part etc (such that the main table would not have to be updated after every game with the actual cup winner position). With regard to the key, these are not used in "full" league standings, but they are used in UEFA and FIFA competition groups. I do not see why those two styles (small tables vs big tables) should have different formatting standards. We will probably need to iron out those kind of details once there is at least a skeleton Lua module. CRwikiCA talk 18:49, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Hockey champions league

I write about the hockey champions league. In fact there already was a a hockey champions league during the season 2008 - 2009. The configuration of the tournament was different but it was organised by IIHF and it already was the hockey champions league. At this time it was swiss team "ZSC Lions Zurich" who won in final against Metallurg Manitogorsk and the score was 5 - 0 for ZSC. I think they stopped it because it wasn't profitable enough.

Hi, I know about the previous tournaments as supporter of one of the founding teams from Nordic trophy, that became European Trophy and now CHL. The old CHL is not exactly the same as it was organized by IIHF and this version is done by the clubs. I am not sure exactly what you want me to do, there is already an article about that season. In fact, as you wrote in your text it was the hockey clubs & the IIHF, so not only the clubs. According to the refrerences that I wrote above they resume the tournament and it's in fact a continuity (afresh according to the IIHF). Like that I have the impression there wasn't a previous shot of the cup. Do we say it's doesn't exist because it stopped a few year cause of financial reason or war or because the configuration of the tournament changed. With this kind of viewpoint, for exemple, every team who won the football champions league didn't win the same tournament because the configuration changed in 2009 (since 2009, there not groups/round robin in second round) and if we count for instance the number of titel we couldn't add 'hem together cause format changed. For me it's a denial of something recognised by the IIHF (again according to the references above). In summary they won 2008/9 ZSC Lions should be recognised for this titel (as IIHF do, according to the references below & above (it's the same references)).

Premier League and Champions League Squads

Hello, I see the addition of the Premier League and Champions League Squads has been undone. I note that the submitted squads to the respective leagues differ from the first team squad. The submitted squads are included in previous years Wikipedia pages. Is there a specific reason for not including them?? Then I'll source the matches, I started adding the goalscorers, assists, clean sheets, and disciplinary tables last season, and no one had a problem with them. It's easier for fans to navigate to see who's scored the most goals, assists, etc without having to trouble themselves looking at the other tables.

Lua-implementation of tables

I have been working on getting a skeleton version for Lua-based table generation off the ground. There is a lot to do still, but I have a minimal version working at Module:Football table, that recreates the current style as exemplified by the basic example on User:CRwikiCA/LuaTest. This table generator should work for an arbitrary number of teams. A lot of work remains to be done (see the to-do list on the test page), but I wanted to keep you in the loop seeing your involvement with these kinds of tables. If you have any other additions to the to-do/keep-in-mind list, feel free to add additional points there. It is, in my opinion, in too early stage of development to involve the Football WikiProject, but we will need community input for some later design choices. @CRwikiCA: Hi. First of all, great work! I have tried reading and understanding the code, which I think I know do. It is a great start. I will keep an eye on it (when I have the time) and look at the to do list. My first thoughts looking at the league table at your testpage is that the table looks narrow when it gets that long (24 teams) but look better for fewer teams. Hmm, the minus sign might be a dash and not a proper minus sign, because of conversion issues. I'll see whether I can fix that.. Just to reply to some of the questions. The Lua implementation on Wikipedia seems to be a bit different from "standard"-Lua, because I never used either, it was not a problem for me. Help:Lua offers some introductions, but the table code basically takes input values and outputs wiki-markup for a table, so input/output commands can mostly be copied from what exists now and then basic loops can build most of the rest. (The only things to note is that empty, but declared input [e.g. "|input1="] count as "true" and empty strings, so using those as logicals might not be ideal) I appreciate your offer for help and I might take you on with it in the future. For now, I do have an idea how to proceed with the current to do list, so I might only want you to review code in the end or when I get stuck. I also intend to find some community consensus to colours/qualification and implement that then. With regard to your specific questions, .. is basically string concatenation. This also works for calling arguments (so it is easy to loop over the teams that way). With regard to array indexing: array's can have both numerical and string indices. I use this to cheat the system by using number indices to build the table (simply go 1, 2, .. , N_teams) and then the team indices to store that team's position (effectively negating the need to search for a teams index later on). Letter codes in tables

Hi, I have been working more on the tables and have come to a point were the highlighting is implemented now, the next step would be to add functionality to add the letter codes for qualification (I would only show the ones that would be actually used in the footer). Based on the current list I would propose the following:
(C) = Champion; (R) = Relegated; (P) = Promoted; (E) = Eliminated; (O) = Play-off winner; (A) = Advances to a further round. (Q) = Qualified to the phase indicated; (T) = Qualified, but not yet to the particular phase indicated; (D) = Disqualified.
Which has one letter for all, some shorter text and combines TQ and RQ in one category. Do we need more additional option/other text as possible table entries? (For example "team can reach playoff but not first place" ) CRwikiCA talk 20:34, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

@CRwikiCA: Hi, already time for next step I see, it goes fast and very well and I like it. About the leeter coding it does noot really matter that much to me, I am used to TQ and RQ, but I guess one letter everywhere is good to. In that way DQ (disquallified) is not to be confused with the other real qualification (godd to not have the Q). Maybe there should be a letter for withdrawn teams (teams who left themselves) like W or does that go under D? I guess if the withdraw they are automatically disqualified and it can be edit warring between W and D.
Regarding "team can reach playoff but not first place" I dont think we need letters for that as there are many possibilites as different tournaments has different rules, but instead do as we currently do in group tables, use different colors and keys for the colors. Yes, I was intending to allow a combination of letters (hence the one-letter codes). For withdrawel my idea was to have it blacked out (black1) and listed as withdrawal/thrown out in the qualification column (I will after some next changes show that in the qualification/relegation/promotion column for the Quitters in the example table (dual with being relegated)). Details can always go in a note. So those codes should work out then. I do not know whether different colours for group scenarios would be practical, but having E, T, Q and A might do the trick as well. We can probably iron the details out once it works properly in full and we are ready for actual test cases. CRwikiCA talk 22:50, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
@CRwikiCA: sounds good. I just noted one thing, if a second division team wins a cup and qualifies for Europa League, there could be promotion, qualification and relegation all in same table and column so perhaps also PQR or QPR should be an alternative with text "Promotion, qualification or relegation" or "Qualification, promotion and relegation" should be used? As a side note I have looked in to the vte buttons for templates and it is very complicated, with one templated using a second template, which uses a third template and so on. I haven looked into the vte buttons yes, but it shouldn't be too tricky, because if I am not mistaken the metadata includes the page name. I was thinking to check whether it is a template or not (based on the namespace), and if so add the buttons there. If you have working code, then it would be good to share (although optimally it wouldn't call a template from the Lua Module to get it to work). CRwikiCA talk 23:07, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

  1. First in the template header {{Fb cl header navbar}} parameters |template=yes and |name=2014–15 Premier League table (as example) is used.
  2. That header template calls {{tnavbar-header}} (beacuse parameter template is set) with the code

I tried but was not very successfull. I can create all the buttons and V T E looks good, but I cant get all wikilinks to work. I have now hardcoded "Template:2014 Allsvenskan table" and Template talk:2014 Allsvenskan table for view and talk and can not get the edit button wo work, it needs the full URL to the page with "action=edit" and I tried following all instructions I could find but it is not working. Instead of non working Magic words I tried what is supposed to replace the magic words, but as I said cant get it to work. Feel free to remove what I have done but thought I should show you. I was unable to parse whether it is in a template or not automatically, so I had to introduce a parameter (template_name) to get that to work. I could then call the navbar template from within Lua to create the buttons. (See the one example "In template test" on the User:CRwikiCA/LuaTest page for an example. Dual result revisited

A while ago we discussed the curious case of 2012–13_Premier_League#League_table with relegation and European qualification for one team. We figured that splitting the colour might work, but I am not so sure now that that would be okay per WP:ACCESS, because it might not be right for colourblind people. Would it in your opinion work if it is one line with one colour and just reading something like

(See the Lua test page for another example actually implemented in Lua) I would otherwise think the code would get too complicated to check for "dual results" (it would add a lot of complexity for something that would rarely be used). @CRwikiCA: Yes that is okay by me, it would work. What I was planning to ask you about is the colors in the eredivisie sandbox. A first look and I felt the colors were a bit "light" and then I realized blue1 was not used. How are the colors going to be used? Will blue1 always be group stage, blue2 third round, blue3 second round and blue4 first round for all tables? or will it depend on the league and blue1 is the top stage that league can qualify for, blue2 second and so on? I am guessing the second alternative as CL has five different round you may enter in so then green1,2,3,4 and 5 would be needed (currently we have green 1-4). If you look in the code, you'll see I used blue1 for the group phase, but that is not awarded because the cup final has not been played yet. I would use blue1 for the highest level from that competition and not fix it globally across different leagues. (Technically this might mean blue1 should be used for R3 in the Eredivisie example until the cup final is played, what do you think?) I don't think 5 cup levels are ever going to be needed, so I think we're fine with 4. CRwikiCA talk 20:34, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Going back 14 seasons back to 2000-2001 season none of the kit sections have been sourced. On other teams 2014-15 pages they are likewise unsourced. I am unsure how to source the description of a kit that is already on the page, there are no reputable sources (news outlets, official leagues, etc) that simply describe the colour of the teams kits. I dont konw about other articles and there is a policy saying I dont have to, but everything needs to be sourced. Sorry mate but you can't say those few little pixels actually represent the adidas logo - look at any Nike-sponsored team here on Wikipedia and you'll see the 'logo' is just a mock-up, or, frankly, all the other adidas teams' pages that have the 'logo' (even 2013-14 Chelsea season for one). I understand your concern that it may be illegal to use the logo unauthorized, but to say that these kits are denoting it is a bit excessive.

@Rupert1904 and 5 albert square: I did add timestamp myself once when I first reverted you and then re-reverted myself and added the timestamp and in this way you got notified you were reverted and I showed you how to update the timestamp without having to leave a warning-message or other message at your talkpage. This I could not do everytime I saw it since I did not have the time and as it is an introduced error to a WP:BLP I reverted it and moved on. It was not harassment as I did not care who I reverted, I just read many diffs updated on my watchlist to see if any was vandalism last night. The thing when not updating timestamp is that a second (and possibly a third editor) comes along, thinks "oh updated a week ago and not today" and add same stats (caps and goals) again making page incorrect. In that way the player have played 3 games and scored 3 goals, when in real life it was one game and one goal. I know other editors doing same thing and (if I remember correctly) there is a suitable policy. Also regarding your live updating last night there is a consensus at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football not to live update since that also leads to many incorrect updates and problems when matches gets interupted mid-game.

@Teacher0691: Then update the table, no need to both restructure and update at the same time. You could have updated in one edit and if you felt like it fixed the structure in a second edit. In that case I had only undone your second edit and it would still have been updated. Also 25 days is not very long since it was an international break and CL and EL had not been played for that period. It was played this week so it has not been updated for a few days.
