I was only changing it because my change was correct. If you look at Gimmie More (one of her songs),it's dance-pop and electropop. So the main article genres should be pop, electronica, and dance. Also, please refrain from yelling in your edit summary. Big T.V. Fan (talk) 01:20, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Replied on your talk. Bascially, the MOS for musicians states that the genre is supposed to be as vague as possible. We already dealing with a 3rr regarding genre changing from earlier today. You would think that you would notice all the reverts being called vandalism... Qb | your 2 cents 01:21, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Be as vague as possible. So you're basically saying that every single artist page should have pop as their only genre? Big T.V. Fan (talk) 01:23, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
No, they should be the main overarching genre... not subgenres. Pleas see WP:MUSTARD. Qb | your 2 cents 01:26, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
But electronica and dance aren't subgenres of pop. Big T.V. Fan (talk) 01:28, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm suggesting you STOP. You're gonna get busted for 3rr. Qb | your 2 cents 01:31, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Why would I stop when I'm just correcting the article? Big T.V. Fan (talk) 01:33, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
See WP:3RR. Qb | your 2 cents 01:34, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
I've known about that rule for a long time. But it's not my fault if people are reverting me because they can't read my summaries. Big T.V. Fan (talk) 01:35, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

(undent) This is not about you. This is about consensus and alot of folks are reverting any changes to the genre. Why not take it to the talk page instead of unilaterally changing it and causing all this grief? I suggest you revert yourself, and take it to the talk page, or even roam the talk page archives and see previous consensus. I've already brought this issue to administrator attention. Qb | your 2 cents 01:37, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to have to comment here as well, but it should be obvious even to the layperson that Spears is not an electronica musician. Releasing two or three songs out of many which happen to lean in that direction doesn't mean that the infobox field should MISLEADINGLY state she is an electronica artist. JBsupreme (talk) 01:38, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

JB, can you make heads or tails of the 3RR violations for admin attention page? I cant. I took it to WP:AN/K. Feel free to submit a violation report. Qb | your 2 cents 01:39, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
I would like to know if there is a relationship between Big T.V. Fan and Mybiggestfan123 (talk · contribs) as well. JBsupreme (talk) 01:40, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Was wondering the same. For the time being, I think BTV and QB are both at the point they should quit reverting. Feel free to make use of the talk page, of course. – Luna Santin (talk) 01:49, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey sorry I used this page for the message, I'm kind of new at this, but as for your question of where I got the Candyman picture, I found it on photobucket, and they let me use the image on websites and stuff. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KickoMan69 (talkcontribs) 17:38, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Replied repeatedly on talk page. Qb | your 2 cents 17:40, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Alright well I'll delete the image and obtain a copy and permission from the actual uploader. Will that work? —Preceding unsigned comment added by KickoMan69 (talkcontribs) 17:50, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

You cannot delete it yourself. You need an admin to do that, but I've already posted on the noticeboard about the image. Qb | your 2 cents 17:52, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Oh, sorry, see I told you I'm new at this. But anyway, can I upload the image again if I get permission from the uploader because I know him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KickoMan69 (talkcontribs) 17:56, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

What you should do is get the guy to upload the picture, himself, to the wiki commons and release it under the GNU or such license. Then you can come back here and link the image to the article. Qb | your 2 cents 18:01, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Alright thanks. Would it matter if it was my brother because we use the same computer and he worked at the concert and was one of the people who had permission to take it.(KickoMan69 (talk) 18:08, 21 July 2008 (UTC))

I dont think it matters, no. He'll have to make an account, sure. But it shouldnt be a problem. Remember, you need to upload it to the commons, not here. You can, but it wont take up server space over here if you do it there. Qb | your 2 cents 18:25, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Alright, well thanks for informing me about what I just did. I'll ask him to upload the picture with his own account. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KickoMan69 (talkcontribs) 18:41, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

IP Rant

Let me make this as clear as I can. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with asking for a source on DMB's genre. It is a common occurence in band articles. I am not inserting commentary or personal analysis, and I am not vandalizing the page, I am simply asking for a source. STOP REVERTING MY FACT TAGS. 71.122.67.169 (talk) 20:35, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Ha! That last time? It wasnt me. Seems other people take issue with it too. Perhaps you should engage in the talk page before believing you to be the lord and savior of fact tags. Qb | your 2 cents 01:41, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your Wonkette edits today

I did not have the guts to edit all those external links, nor the know-how to footnote stuff. I've been trying to improve that article for some time now. Thanks again. --79.97.249.222 (talk) 00:33, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Oh no problem at all. Your edits have been great. Wonkette is on my list of stuff I watch, and in the back of my mind of something to fix up... but it was just a massive mess that I never felt like it. You've done the majority of the work, good on ya! Qb | your 2 cents 00:55, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! I'm very junior at this editing wikipedia thing. Yeah, it has been a mess of an article and it still possibly dwells too much on names of contributors. One doesn't wish to rob them of their glory, yet . . . the person likely to consult the entry is the person who wants the overview, the bigger picture. I don't know how to fix that without stepping on toes. Anyway thank you & see you on wonkette (wheelie).--79.97.249.222 (talk) 00:48, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Apostrophe

Perhaps my edit summary was typed too hastily in frustration - you have a point. However, I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets exasperated as so-called "English speakers" who do not know basic spelling, grammar and punctuation. We're not talking rocket science here: we're talking the very basics. And this is not some little obscure article created by one person, which nobody ever reads, let alone edits. This is Britney Spears - a world-famous singer, whose article probably gets thousands of hits per day. It's an embarrassment to the entire Wikipedia community to have basic English errors in the lead section. See what I mean? EuroSong talk 19:58, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Hurt? Whom did I hurt? Was it you who wrote that original incorrect text? If not, then why are you getting "hurt" on behalf of someone else? :) 21:20, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, see... the comment was construed, by me at least, towards the whole bunch of us who have her watchlisted... but meh. Its not a big deal. Qb | your 2 cents 10:32, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
The comment was only made to the illiterate person who wrote the sentence in question. Why would it be directed towards people who did not write it? Anyway - no big deal now, as you say. EuroSong talk 12:37, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

WHFS edits

Umm - how do I say this? I think your Draconian gutting of the WHFS article is WAY overboard. You are removing an immense amount of effort by innumerable contributors trying to document what is essentially a very ephemeral subject. Radio is here and now and then gone. Much of the trivia, and all of the staff list are the culmination of many people's efforts. I think a little latitude is in order. Thanks to everyone who participated in my RfA, regardless of their !vote. I have withdrawn the nomination as a failure at 19 supports, 45 opposes, and 9 neutral statements.

As has been written and sung, you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need — and what I need is to go back to working on our shared project. Not everyone has to be an admin; there is a role for each of us. After reflection, I feel I don't have the temperament to secure community consensus as an admin at any point, and I will not be applying again in the future — and hey, that's all right, 'cause I stay true to the philosophy that adminship is no big deal: I tried, I failed, and now I'll return to doing what I've always done. I have an extremely strong belief in the consensus process, and the consensus was clear. I will be devoting my energies to volunteering at MedCab and working up a complete series of articles on the short stories of Ernest Hemingway, among lord knows what else. Thanks again to everyone who spared the time to weigh in on this one. It was made in better faith than it probably seemed.
Mr. IP Defender of Open Editing 14:00, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

More than fair oppose vote, and I do appreciate the good words. I have no problem with people not taking such a mysterious user at face value — and besides, not all of us gotta be admins, right? Anyway, hope to see you 'round on the 'pedia. Mr. IP Defender of Open Editing 14:00, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks!

Thank you...

...for participating in my RfA, which closed with 119 in support, 4 neutral and 5 opposes. I'm honestly overwhelmed at the level of support that I've received from the community, and will do my best to maintain the trust placed in me. I 'm also thankful to those who opposed or expressed a neutral position, for providing clear rationales and superb feedback for me to build on. I've set up a space for you to provide any further feedback or thoughts, should you feel inclined to. However you voted, thanks for taking the time out to contribute to the process, it's much appreciated. Kind regards, Gazimoff 22:00, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

waccolon is Willie Colón

Please I am trying to fill in missing informatio and missinformation. This is my biographical page. I am not well versed in Wikipedia format and protocol but surely I can correct inaccuracies in my own resume. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Waccolon (talkcontribs) 02:07, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Note: If User:Waccolon is Willie Colon as he claims, then ask him to proof it. If he visited your mother in a hotel room in Peru, he must know her well. Ask your mom to tell you something about his school days that most people wouldn't know and then put him to the test. If he answers you correctly then he is whom he claims to be. I had the same situation once and put the person to the test. I never heard from the person again. Tony the Marine (talk) 18:40, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Good idea. I'll ask him who my mother married. That ought to do it. I'm hoping he comes back and responds. If he is who he says he is, what a plus that would be for the project. Such knowledge... Qb | your 2 cents 18:45, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
It was about time something interesting happened here; I would have suggested the same thing as Tony, proof. There is also the "picture evidence" which was used by WP:PW some time ago, where the "celebrity" would e-mail a picture of him with the username written in a piece of paper (by hand) to one of the users attending the case. - Caribbean~H.Q. 20:46, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW THIS WIKIPEDIA FORMAT WORKS. is a steep and frustrating learning curve. BUT, I will endure. Miligros Espada was one of the best looking girls in my class. She never gave me the time of day in that way, I was a petit wanabee hooligan and she was a good girl. Despite that because of the band clas were became friends. I was very happy to see her in Lima. As a matter of fact a friend who I met while living in Mexico was transfered to Lima around that time. Dan Ammerman. I played trumpet in Mr. Hughes'class. There was another girl named Luz Velez, I'm not sure if they hung out together. It gets blurry. It was at Alexander Burger Junior High. I went to Clinton HS (all was not co-ed). I hope I didn't screw something else up. Are there people I can hire to do this for me? (Like myspace) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Waccolon (talkcontribs) 12:56, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes. My thats my mom. While there are lots of folks who you can pay, we'd prefer it if you dont. We'll help you figure it all out, no problem at all. If you want, you can email Caribbean H.Q. and wont have to mess with all of this wiki formatting stuff. Our biggest problem was mostly that the things you were adding are not available in any online sources. While its perfectly understandable that your first hand knowledge is, well, just that... first hand knowledge, other folks who might come by the article will want to know where we got our information from. I'll let my mom know you thought she was the best looking girls in class.  :) She'll love to hear it. Qb | your 2 cents 13:23, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Please contact User:Caribbean H.Q. regarding how you can go about getting some of the info back into the article. Qb | your 2 cents 14:43, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Satgas Atbara

Your excuse for deletion is very poor my friend and assum that it is prompted by the fact the finger has been pointed at US forces. Is a unit of no notability because it has operated on a limited capacity? US units have a more proven history because of US foreign policy, that is all. A unit of this nature (counter-terrorist) is seldom used so is never going to achive the same status as some of the foreign contemporaries. I suggest you remove you deletion tag (Archangel1 (talk) 17:01, 19 August 2008 (UTC)).

I didnt add the deletion tag, and one should never remove the AfD notice on a article when there is an ongoing discussion. Please see WP:AfD before telling me to remove something I didnt add. My argument for deletion is very thought out and well written, unlike examples of your contributions to the project. I will not remove anything, and if you choose to badger anyone who votes for delete, that will not go over too well in the AfD discussion. Please do not contact me further. There is nothing else to say. Qb | your 2 cents 17:23, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Dave Matthews

Not this silly argument again. Look, Africa is a continent, not a country. Take a look at this: List of African countries. Your nationality applies to your country of birth, not continent. Dave Matthews was born in South Africa. South Africa is a country. Therefore, his nationality is South African. Since he emigrated to the United States of America, he is now South African-American. If I, an American, emigrated to Canada, I would be an American-Canadian because I was born in the United States of America and became a naturalized Canadian citizen. Also, take a look at what term means and who it applies to: African American. And no, Dave Matthews is not an African in any way, but that's another topic. Noble12345 (talk) 00:49, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry you think African American means a black person. But he was born in Africa, therefore he is African. And he is American. Therefore he is an African American. End of story. Qb | your 2 cents 02:13, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Did you even read the links? African American means a black American of African descent or a black American who is a descendant of African slaves who suferred through American slavery. Just like Italian-American. Also, Africa is a continent. The term African is not a nationality because Africa is not a country. The man is South African-American;South Africa to U.S.A.=South African-American. It would be incorrect even if he was black. Nigeria to U.S.A.=Nigerian-American, Ghana to U.S.A.=Ghanaian-American. You should learn about geography. And from what I see, there is no consensus on the talk page. Don't play me for a fool because I'm not one. Noble12345 (talk) 15:22, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

... he is African American. The moniker is a well established addition to the article. You are the only one who is taking issue with this. If you've reverted, I will be reporting you to 3rr. Qb | your 2 cents 23:10, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

You might as well have written "Oppose - I had toast for breakfast this morning". You'll probably dismiss this as "badgering" but if you're going to make a lame oppose, expect someone to respond to it. Majorly talk 14:50, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

The line I changed refers to JD's current position, which is attending physician and staff internist, i.e. doctor of internal medicine. Yes, he started out as an intern, but that was only for the first season, IIRC. You can't be an attending physician and an intern at the same time. So the line, as it currently stands (I haven't reverted it back yet) makes no sense. The proper word is internist. --Fru1tbat (talk) 01:51, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

That works for now. Makes sense, at least. The paragraph could stand to be rewritten a bit, I guess. Elliot is described as "fellow intern and later private practice physician", which is a bit awkward, as well as somewhat arbitrary, as she went through several positions between those two (and if it didn't say "fellow intern" at all, it would make the previous sentence much less problematic). The problem is trying to describe too much of the characters' development in too little space, I think... --Fru1tbat (talk) 12:45, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

No need to overreact. The tag only implies the user(s) 1) consider themselves an expert on the subject 2) have a wide variety of credible information on the subject (ex: my personal access to several periodicals, online journals and other databases as a college student) and 3) are personally making themselves available to be asked specific question on what should/shouldn't be added to the article. While a number of editors may watch the article, most probably wouldn't want to be bugged every five minutes by random editors about "can we add this/that" or "how does this/that work" or "whats the policy on this/that". I personally maintain Janet Jackson, Barbara Gordon, and a few others, mainly because I was the primary contributor, but plenty of other people have contributed and watch those articles as well. I know you remove it from the main article an it was the right thing to do. You said though that you had contested copyright but there's no contest on the image page. I will add one myself as well. Ogioh (talk) 22:46, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

"Oppose per badgering" as an RfA trend

Hello Queerbubbles, I have noticed at one or more points in time you using the rationale of "badgering" to oppose candidates at requests for adminship. There is currently a thread at WT:RFA attempting to analyze this trend as a whole in detail, and I would appreciate input from you. The thread is located at Wikipedia talk:Requests for adminship#The real problem. Thanks. GlassCobra 18:04, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Very interesting. I'll take a look. Thanks for lettin me know. Qb | your 2 cents 22:25, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

dear 'tabloid' editors

Hi Qb, I don't think you're going to persuade the IP on the issue at Talk:Meg White and this might be a time to not feed the trolls. Hopefully he/she won't keep removing the text. Cheers, --JD554 (talk) 11:13, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

I dont appreciate being told not to feed the trolls. I'm not a wiki newbie. This was my last comment: "We have explained why this is necessary in the article. Stop." Obviously, that was all that was needed, because they did. Qb | your 2 cents 09:27, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm sorry you took my comment the wrong way. I never tried to imply you were a newbie. Your last comment may have done the trick, but the IP kept responding to your earlier attempts, I was simply trying to be helpful. --JD554 (talk) 11:04, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

LeRoi Moore

You said I vandalised the Dave Matthews Band webpage by saying LeRoi Moore was still a current member of DMB. Yes he did die, but he will never be a "former" member; he is a deceased member. Get it right!

Moflint (talk) 05:48, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

No, that is vandalism. Begone, troll. Qb | your 2 cents 10:25, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Your pictures

Hi Queerbubbles, thanks for uploading all the awesome pictures! I'm about to use some in the German Wikipedia--great!

Just a small request: Could you please add more comprehensive descriptions in the future? I've seen some pictures where more relevant information (esp. their location) was in the English Wikipedia article than on the image description page. That makes using them a bit tedious because then users like me first have to find out where in the English they're used... although that's exactly what the image description pages are for. So it'd be wonderful if you could add such information directly to the image pages. Thanks!! ... Looking forward to more of your pictures, Ibn Battuta (talk) 19:37, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

PS: BTW, please also categorize your images. Not only does that make it much easier to find them for later users and so improves further Wikipedia articles... but it also helps to reduce work for other users (who otherwise have to categorize them at some point). Thanks again!! --Ibn Battuta (talk) 19:57, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Dont worry, I wont be adding anymore, ever. Obviously, since I havent uploaded any since, what, August? Qb | your 2 cents 04:25, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Um... not sure what you mean (do you consider "since August" a long or a short time?)... but anyways, as I said, I'd love to see more of your pictures, but it's obviously your choice. Just in case you do upload more, it'd be great to help other Wikipedians have less work. Regards, Ibn Battuta (talk) 03:18, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
I dont appreciate people coming and saying, "Thanks so much for taking these pictures and going out of your way to find them and uploading them and giving up the license on them... oh, and if you could just categorize them and add these descriptors and this and this and this and this then it would be easier!" No. I think going out and taking the pictures is enough of my time. And if you had checked the archives before adding this note, you would see that I've already dealt with this. This message would be apt if I had uploaded 50 pictures yesterday with no categories. Or if I had uploaded all my pictures with no categories. But I havent. And I dont. This message is pretty useless, especially with the giant banner at the top of the page which says, "I AM NOT ON HERE THAT MUCH ANYMORE!" Qb | your 2 cents 14:02, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your polite note. :o) I appreciate you not appreciating my notes, and your message would be apt if it were 1.) much to ask of a person to make, upload and license images, 2.) reasonable to check a user's archive before leaving a message, 3.) reasonable to expect that people read all messages on top of talk pages, esp. if they are multi-colored and heavily lay-outed (you may like it or not, but I tend to ignore that kind of stuff if I even take the time to notice it before scrolling down), and 4.) evident that a user with access to Wikipedia "in the afternoons and weekends" intends to upload no further pictures. Whatever, as you don't seem to upload any more pictures, we won't have any more trouble with them. Seems to serve everyone's interests including your own. Awesome. Best regards, Ibn Battuta (talk) 04:58, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Shoo. Troll. Qb | your 2 cents 22:52, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Seeing that you haven't been on here much lately, I think I need to post some links for you to take a refresher course on how things work here: WP:CIVIL and WP:RICHARD would be a good start. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Trusilver 01:18, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
HAHAHAHAHAHA! You're kidding right? No, I dont need a "refresher course". Begone. Qb | your 2 cents 10:37, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
