Warnings[edit]

April 2012[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Clare Fischer. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. ukexpat (talk) 13:36, 12 April 2012 (UTC) Dear ukexpat, our homepage and all the lecture content has been updated and most of the URL's that have been linked in wikipedia are no longer active. Since I'm just updating them and adding appropiate content to our former lecturers, I definitely don't intend to advertise or misuse your page. Sorry if there's any misunderstanding. RBMA[reply]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Dennis Brown (talk) 15:02, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

April 2012[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Georgia Anne Muldrow, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted (undone) by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • ClueBot NG makes very few mistakes, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been considered as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • If you need help, please see our help pages, and if you can't find what you are looking for there, please feel free to place "{{helpme}}" on your talk page and someone will drop by to help.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Georgia Anne Muldrow was changed by RBMA (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.906511 on 2012-04-23T13:37:49+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 13:37, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Many thanks for the notice. Since I already tried to explain before, the RBMA website got re-designed and most of the links don't work anymore. I'm about to update them on wikipedia and insert the new URL's and implement a clearer description. If you have any tipps or warnings regarding this please let me know and I'll stick to your suggestions. But if I just wrote before: The links I've been changing didn't work anymore. Kind regards RBMA (talk) 13:43, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen (RBMA) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Mulatu Astatke. Thank you. Gyrofrog (talk) 15:35, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry about the misunderstanding and i really do not want to cause any trouble! There was already a long discussion about these issues at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. This account is set up by Red Bull Music Academy for updating the 'dead' links. RBMA 15:46, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • The ANI discussion you are referring to is here [1] where I pointed out that the name was a username violation. One other user disagreed but also thought that User:BBC would be ok, which showed me that they misunderstood username policy. No other action was taken at that ANI, so no consensus was formed. My previous opinion stands. Dennis Brown © 17:36, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As far as it worked out, all 'old' links got updated now, which was my main intention for creating the RBMA account. Since this account name seems to be the main problem, I would delete it within the next days or (if possible) I'll change it to my real name (if some url changings coming up in the future). Sorry again for any inconvenience. RBMA 19:22, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
