Sage, I have applied for exemption for the use of book-cover images in critical reviews of books on WP in The Signpost. Given your interest in history of science and the academic image of Wikipedia, I wonder if you've seen this somewhat old discussion at the Advances in the History of Psychology blog of a debate that took place a while back about Alhazen's contributions to Psychology (It mentions your HoS Newsletter piece).

Plan for Post publication?[edit]

What are your plans for that this week? Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2010-05-10/Commons deletions isn't done, and nobody is particularly in charge of it. I suggest that you wait for this to be publishable, because I think we really need to include it in this week's Post. Also, I plan to change Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2010-05-10/In the news and remove most of the content about that brouhaha which isn't specifically related to its coverage in other media. Leaving it there repeats a lot of information and I think we should have most of the content in one article. I'd ask your thoughts on that first, though. ÷seresin 04:57, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I changed my mind. I did some final tidies, and I think the story is at least publishable now (it's probably not as exhaustive as it could be, but there's a lot of discussion to tackle so I think what we have is acceptable). News and Notes is a bit skimpy, but I think just final formatting and it can run formatted. All the rest seem ready to go. I still think we should modify ITN before publishing, but other than that, my opinion is that you should be good to publish. Oh and I put a title on the Commons article, because I thought the title I gave to the BLP page was just hilarious. Feel free to change it, though... ÷seresin 05:45, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Sage,

I see you've returned to writing for The Signpost. Obviously you have noticed the Monday deadline has slipped half a dozen times now and the "In The News" section has been missing for the past two weeks. Can I speak to you privately about becoming a regular contributor to this section? There are so many questions I need to ask before committing to anything, some of them quite embarrassing for me because I consider myself an experienced editor (I've been editing from this account since 2008). I would prefer to speak over IRC if possible.

Nature study, possible expansion[edit]

Hello, Ragesoss. I'm not sure if we've ever officially crossed paths, but I know I've seen you around. As such, I've just now come across nature study, which I see was part of a class assignment you monitored a few years ago. It's a great start, and if you don't mind I am considering expanding it further. I've recently written the nature fakers controversy article (promoted to FA last month), which as you may know occurred at the very height of the nature study movement, so I have various sources on hand. I think it would be great fun to research, but wanted to alert you as to my attentions -- in case you would like to collaborate, or if you have any ideas as to which direction you think the article should go. It's very interesting, I agree; such an article really needs to highlight nature study's effects on figures such as Rachel Carson and Aldo Leopold, and the modern conservation movement as a whole, as well as the historical aspects. photo request[edit]

Hello, User:Risker told me you are the photog for this picture [1] we are using over on the Tea Party Movement. We're having a problem because of it's size. Everytime we arrange sections and/or add/delete text, we are sometimes left with the photo encroaching on the references section which in turn creates a huge channel of white space. I am attempting to get the residents I teach to write for Wikipedia. I get a few coming through every month. I hear that you have a position arranging this sort of stuff? What does it entail? BTW I think it is a great idea and am looking into the possibility of inflicting Wikipedia an entire medical class. I still have a lot of people to convince. The classes currently have 256 students.
