User talk:Ranameraj
Hi. I reverted your edits to Gujrat recently, and I thought you should know why. While you clearly know more about the city than I do, some of your additions (especially the ones in the agriculture section) were not neutral point of view - references to 'we' were made among other things. I also found the communications info non-notable, but we can discuss that if you'd like. If you want to talk about this, feel free to leave a comment on my talk page. Thanks for contributing to wikipedia! Ruaraidh-dobson 10:55, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your kind words! I'm sure we can work out a compromise on the communications info. I'll just go and have a look at the article again, and see about it. Ruaraidh-dobson 14:08, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- There we go. And one more thing - it's handy if you sign your name with 4 tildes (~~~~) after a comment on a talk page. It lets everyone see who left the comment immediately. Thanks! Ruaraidh-dobson 14:22, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- No problem! That's what wikipedia's all about, cooperating with others to improve things for everyone! Ruaraidh-dobson 15:29, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
NPOV
[edit]Hi again! It's great that you're adding so much information to wikipedia, and in particular Gujrat - your kind of hard-working participation is what makes wikipedia work. A few notes though; your latest edits to Gujrat made note of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti, a very notable man who certainly deserves a mention as a recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider. However, you described him as brave, which might not be from a neutral point of view. I've made some edits while trying to keep all the information you've added - I just thought I'd let you know why. Thanks, and keep up the good work! Ruaraidh-dobson 12:34, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's my pleasure, really! I'm glad to be able to work with someone who knows so much about Gujrat's history. Thank you! Ruaraidh-dobson 23:46, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Adding an image
[edit]Ok, it's been a while since I've done this, so bear with me. First, you have to make sure you have permission from the copyright holder(s) to use the image in wikipedia. This is very important! If you don't have that permission, don't upload the image.
Second, click on "Upload file" in the toolbox, on the left of your screen, near the bottom. You'll go to a page warning you about copyright violations. Read that information, then scrolll down and click on the button "choose". Select the file you want to upload, and click "Ok".
In the edit field marked "destination filename", type the name you want the file to have on wikipedia (for example, "Glasgow_buildings.jpg"). In the field marked "Summary (author, source URL, {{tags}}, etc.)" put your username (in fact, just put ~~~~) and a short description of the file's contents. Beneath that, there's a drop-down list marked "Licensing". Select one that is appropriate - for example, if it's a photo you took yourself, select "GFDL (self made)". Once you're sure everything is correct, click on upload.
Now, to use the file on a page, type [[Image:xyz]], where "xyz" is what you put for "Destination filename". Click preview, and your image should be there! If you have any problems, feel free to contact me. Good luck! Ruaraidh-dobson 10:31, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
The reason I removed the text in question is because it discusses a specific mango producing region in Pakistan which isn't notable enough to include in the Mango article. If we were to include all text about regions worldwide of similar notability it would take thousands of words to describe. For example information would have to included on most South Asian countries, virtually all Pacific Island nations, Florida and Arizona and possibly other U.S. states, virtually all Central American countries, most countries in Africa, some countries in South America, and most islands in the Caribbean as well as a few other regions throughout the world. As for the second paragraph see Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not (Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information). Specifically, wikipedia is not a "how-to" guide and its objective is not to cover various methods of eating mangos, at least not on the Mango page. Hope that makes it clear, if not let me know and I would be glad to explain further. Eberhart 21:15, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 26[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gujrat railway station, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gujrat. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
