Re: Vol peer review

[edit]

I'd be happy to look it over and give some help. Even if it's a subject I know nothing about, I should still be able to say what or if anything needs to be done to make it accessible to others. -- αŁʰƏЩ @ 22:28, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, set up a PR page, and I'll try to do it this evening/tonight. It's 4pm where I am, and if I end up doing something offline tonight, then it'll be tomorrow for sure. -- αŁʰƏЩ @ 22:47, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Click here, put the reason why you want it reviewed, something like you want to get it to featured status, and say what particular parts you want reviewers to look at. everything, copy edits, Wikipedia policies, whatever. And in that {{Peer review page|topic=}} part, put an "A" after "topic=". It'll show up in the Peer review list after about an hour. -- αŁʰƏЩ @ 23:00, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. I didn't (and still don't) see it listed at WP:PR. I'll get on it in the next hour or so. -- αŁʰƏЩ @ 20:55, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind - It's listed under General! I was looking under "Arts"-- αŁʰƏЩ @ 20:56, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hard Day's Night

[edit]

Okay thanks. :) Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 19:18, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments at User:Kodster's talk page; of course I'd prefer to work with you rather than against you; perhaps you might understand how difficult it can be to assume good faith once you have set out a position which not just I found difficult to accept. However, as you will have seen, A Hard Day's Night (film) should be ready about this time tomorrow; I just need to go to the library to verify some references, and it's some 30 miles away from where I live. I'll let you know when I think the GA review can be resumed. Cheers --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 19:46, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Re your comment at my talk page. It's not possible to "go behind anyone's back" here, since all talk pages, and their history, are visible to anyone unless they are deleted or oversighted. Tomorrow, then. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 19:48, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, you can review it. Checked it over a while ago, and it looks good. Please feel free to talk to me on my for any questions or comments. Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 16:46, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A Day in the Life

[edit]

I've taken a quick look at it, and it seems over-long at first sight. There are a lot of cover versions, not many of which seem really notable. There are many unsourced assertions. Personnel section should be at the bottom, just before the references. I think it's a little optimistic for a GA at present, but I don't have time to look at it myself. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 22:44, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not wishing to be disagreeable but there are reasons here why you shouldn't edit comments, even your own, on my talk page. I understand the need for a new start but these will be archived in due course. Meanwhile, of course, they would still be in the history. Cheers. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 22:48, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I took it off the GA list. I just wanted some other input before I started improving it. That's all. I'll take care of this, but feel free to help. Cheers Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 19:42, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fursuit GAC

[edit]

I gotten most of what you asked. Some problems I have. I am still needing to do the music video mentions in prose, but that isn't a problem. However, one of the things you mentioned is having a source that says the suits can either be made or bought. I have pages that say one or the other, maybe both, but will fail WP:RS or maybe considered span. One thing that I can say is that this is similar to the Japanese cosplay; suits and items can be bought or made. Can I use a cosplay source, as long as I reword the statement? User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 03:13, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found a website used for fursuits only. Here are my google search results. Here is the cosplay link I mentioned. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 17:47, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I got everything you mentioned so far. I know you mentioned some POV issues, but letme know what those are and it can be fixed. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 23:12, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the music videos because I didn't find a single source about any specific video. I was going to cut it down to a list of people who had them, but still without any sources. Other than that, I got everything on your second list. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 01:18, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added some of the music info back, since I have sources now. I also completed your list three. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 02:08, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
More sources added, but I will be mostly out tomorrow due to the hanami. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 06:36, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I am home now. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 06:22, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I been done with your last list for about 2 days now :) so just waiting for you. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 18:23, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, everything that was done was of great assistance. I thank you very much for what you have done. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 18:54, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem, Realist2 (talk) 18:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks from WP:FURRY and myself for your detailed comments on this good article candidacy. I'm convinced that with enough work this could be a featured article someday, and making GA is a good start. :-) GreenReaper (talk) 21:42, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re A possible issue

[edit]

Hi, given the generally slow process of GA review I wouldn't worry about an editor not being around too much. The timings are is pretty flexible in my experience. I'd leave a note in the article's talk page saying you've left the review on hold, and someone else may pick it up. Otherwise, the weekend is nigh, & the article's editor may have some time to look at it. But I wouldn't fail it if it can be fixed. Just leave it as on hold. Obviously, if it doesn't get fixed, it will eventually be failed, but it will still be in the GA reviews list and someone will pick it up. Cheers. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 17:02, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

thanks

[edit]

thanks for the bannerstar! Bookkeeperoftheoccult (talk) 23:00, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FA for sure. Bookkeeperoftheoccult (talk) 23:04, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're gonna hate me for this (ouch!) but I am sorely tempted to put a "citation needed" after the "Thriller a chart-topper", and the "Steve Lukather" name in the "Recording and release" section. Please don't fire me, because I have 16 children to support, and three grandmothers. :)--andreasegde (talk) 23:15, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No no no, please go ahead, it isnt going to pass anyway. Never mind tho. ;-( Realist2 (talk) 23:20, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can help if you want - it's easy-peasey. I showed Newbie Kodster how to do it, even though it took me months to work out how it was done. You only have to copy the bul?sh*t to Winword, and then fill out the relevant details, and then copy it back over. You have helped me so much, it's the least I can do (and it's not a Beatles article...)--andreasegde (talk) 23:36, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's all right, Realist, I'll check this out. What does this sentence mean?
"It was released on November 30, 1982 by Epic Records and the second produced by Quincy Jones." I'm going to reword it, it's not very clear to me (and probably others as well). Please feel free to talk to me on my for any questions or comments. Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 16:46, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done checking "Thriller". There were a few minor grammar issues (a comma here, a misspelled word there), but they're fixed. Very good job overall, definitely worth a GA in my opinion. Please feel free to talk to me on my for any comments. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 17:53, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Start with this: (it’s better to copy it to WinWord and then fill it out before putting it on Wiki)

[1]

  • Then add a name; any name will do, but it’s good to make it relevant. Then add the name of the writer. If there is no writer’s name just leave it empty.

[2]

  • Add the webpage address and the title at the top of the webpage.

[3]

  • Add the publisher's name and the date it was published. If there is no date, you will have to delete the section, like this:

[3]

  • Put the date you accessed it. (It’s American, so it’s year, month and day…)
  • If you want to use the same page for a second reference, use this:

[3]

OK, ill give it a go on my sandbox. ;-) Realist2 (talk) 14:57, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You got it in one. Now do the other 100-odd :) I'm working from the top, so maybe you could work from the bottom so we don't clash.--andreasegde (talk) 15:22, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LOL. I saw this and I was like, hell, I must have copied this onto Realist2's talk page by mistake! Showing him how to do it, huh? It helps a lot, also see what Wikipedia has to say for more info.

Barnstar

[edit]
The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
I gladly give this Barnstar to Realist2, Kodster, and Rodhullandemu, for working with each other in a very positive way. This does not happen very often on Wikipedia, and it is to be congratulated, and praised; hence, the Barnstar. Enjoy.--andreasegde (talk) 21:17, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh mega cool!!!! Cheers!!!! Realist2 (talk) 21:19, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As you can tell, I put it on hold. See the Talk:Thriller (album) for the stuff. Feel free to add anything that you see wrong. I'd say this article could be fixed in a few days. Please feel free to talk to me on my for any comments. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 22:37, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, you're enjoying your barnstar as well. That's good. I'm elated over mine. I'm glad that we could settle everything together and cooperate to make Wikipedia a better place. Cheers! Kodster talk
As I just answered on the talk page, I added another section to it about the singles. It really isn't much, but let's keep it until the end, when we can decide properly what to do with it. Because if we change it now, then we might find more info, and we'll have to start over with it. So let's just keep it for now, and see if we can expand it. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 17:54, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, feel free to change it. I'll check on it later, I've got a few non-Wiki related things to finish. (Perhaps it's time for that Wikibreak I was supposed to take). I'll look at it in an hour or two. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 19:26, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm back. I changed my mind. Keep it like that because the lead is a SUMMARY, and the three listed singles are the most known and the biggest hits. It's okay that they're already mentioned, in fact, it should be like that. Hopefully we can finish this soon. Great job! Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 19:45, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think you'll be better suited to get information for the "Recording and release" section, considering that you have the books and I don't. :) I'll help with the formatting, and I'll help with the wording. We're almost done! Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 19:53, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you want me to put that info into the section? Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 21:22, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. Oh, look at Andreasegde's [[talk page. I think he deserves it, don't you? Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 21:35, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm back. Just felt a need for some grapes and tea. OK, I'll be right on it. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 22:12, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, common misconception. Many Americans drink coffee, but I prefer tea. Tea and a good book is my perfect way to relax. I put a splash of milk in my tea, à la the English. I even spell words the English way, for example "favourite" instead of "favorite." I love England, and someday I wish to move there. I may be born in the States, but I certainly don't act like a Yank. :) Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 22:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I don't like American football either. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 22:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What does "with 300 songs being written and produced" mean on Thriller?
Okay, thanks. I'll reword it. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 22:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, it's done. Are you sure that there's no more information you can find? It looks okay, but a few more details wouldn't hurt. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 22:29, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, OK. Tell me when you're done (mind you that I may be asleep, there's a 4 hour time difference from here to England, though I don't know where you're from).

What does "At its peak it was shifting 500,000 copies a week" mean? Does "shifting" mean "selling"? I'm sorry, I just don't understand. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 23:14, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, it's done! So, that's it? Is it time for the final review? Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 23:27, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, a third of the sources still need formatting. Then it will be done. I think it will be another 24 hours, hopefully our wiki knight in shining armour can give us a hand. Realist2 (talk) 23:30, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If he's not gone by then. :) Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 23:33, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

keep up the good work. Bookkeeperoftheoccult (talk) 00:05, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, going to start the review. :) Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 20:14, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, you said that you were going to put citation tags on A Day in the Life. Sorry if you've been so busy, lately, but so have I, what with Thriller, and A Day in the Life. If you could just tag the article, then I'll fix it and you can relax. Thanks. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 21:24, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pass! Yes!

[edit]

I think you know that it passed. Great job on the referencing and the information. Another GA for Wikipedia. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 21:18, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck with that. You'll need it! ;D Anyway, like I said earlier, I really advise on getting the "Cite" button. You really CAN'T forget anything with it. Just go to "Preferences", then "Gadgets", and "refTools". It's just a button, and you can pick what you want to cite and fill in the form, and it does it for you. It's a lot easier, and it's what I use. (Because that's what's important. ;)) I really think it would help. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 00:48, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Day in the Life

[edit]

What's up? Why did you remove your edits? Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 22:58, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand what you're talking about when you say, "What do you mean, the wiki links" on my user page. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 23:04, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You asked me why did i remove my edits, i have know idea what edits i made that i then reverted, other than removing these [[ ]] . Realist2 (talk) 23:07, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's what I'm talking about. Why did you delete those [[ ]]? Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 23:09, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, sorry language barrier lol, yeah they were red links, i decided to wiki link it, some of them worked and some of them didnt. Realist2 (talk) 23:11, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to find you both together, because I forgot to say that copying the

"ref name="">{{cite web |first= |last= |url= |title= |publisher= |date=2008-02-19 |accessdate=2008-04-06"

stuff over to Winword is easier if you do it TWICE. Once you have filled in #1, you delete it, and then copy the second version. This means you don't have to keep deleting all the stuff and then re-doing it.--andreasegde (talk) 12:42, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm really happy that I realized this, because it will probably make your lives SO much easier. When you click "My Preferences", and go to "Gadgets", click "refTools" under "Editing Gadgets". It gives you a button so that when you edit, all you have to do is pick what you're citing (a website, a book, etc.) and fill in the information, and it does it for you! It's a lot easier! Hope that helps! Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 17:14, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I posted this on Andreasegde's page as well. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 17:14, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What I'm saying is that you don't have to do that format. You just click this button, and you fill in the website name, author, etcetera, and it will put it into that format that Andreasegde showed you...automatically. It's easier. Just try it, and see how it works. You don't have to use it. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 17:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What to do next

[edit]

Well, of course, there's A Day in the Life to GA. Perhaps you would like to help me there? After that, I might take a little break, just for a week or two. Then...who knows? But don't worry, I'll always be here if you need me for anything. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 00:36, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of A Day in the Life, are you going to put those tags on anytime soon? Just wondering, because it will help a lot if you did. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 00:37, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This comment was highly inappropriate. Do not say things like that. - Rjd0060 (talk) 01:01, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Racist edits

[edit]

I understand the problem, and that you're being targeted by anonymous IPs due to your race, or support of MJ, or whatever I don't know. But making such edits to the user's talk page is not the way to solve the problem. If you like you could file a report at WP:AN/I and have administrators look at the situation and see what they can do to protect you against these attacks. Or I could do it for you, if you like. Let me know. —  scetoaux (T|C) 01:07, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've got your talk page on my watch list now. Nobody should have to put up with crap like that. Raymond Arritt (talk) 05:12, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This guy is posting from Cardiff, Wales, using Tesco.net. If I can find out whether this is a fixed IP address (as most Broadband connections in the UK are), I'll block him permanently for harassment and file an abuse report with his ISP. Meanwhile, I'll watch this page if you don't mind. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 06:00, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Had another look. It would seem his major location is a Cardiff node on the NTL network but another tool tells me it's in Bristol. I'll see if I can give a friend of mine at NTL a call & he may be able to pin it down better. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 07:01, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You might be able to trace this back to User:Mr yopyopyop, who pasted some code for the image on 24 March on to my talk page. Bsrboy (talk) 16:31, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I appologize, I will never let this happen again. 86.29.133.152 (talk) 13:46, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Realist, I've seen these. Don't see any connection with User:Mr yopyopyop at all, and the other IP is from the same headnode as the previous, so it's dynamic & not plausible blocking it for any length of time. I suspect a little WP:EUI here, but will see if it recurs. As of now, any racist insult to this page will be blockable on sight. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 19:01, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Hey

[edit]

Shocking response huh. Anyway, one benifit of peer reviewing is that the article becomes more prepared for FAC. But folks here have different outlooks, so I'll consider that as ok. About the peer review, consider dropping a message on the user's talk page who submitted it for PR. If he closes the PR, good; if not, its a bad sign, it fails to meet Wikipedia:Featured article criteria 1e. --Efe (talk) 03:26, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I will transfer the review. No probs. --Efe (talk) 03:36, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm the one who ill-advisedly put it up for PR. I didn't know about the rules of FAC and PR. Anyway, is it taken care of? I've taken it off as it said to do, but I just want to make sure. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 22:08, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, also, I don't think that I can review this for FAC. I'm not put up for that yet. :) Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 22:08, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From you know who

[edit]

Good grief, I popped in to take a look at your Thriller FA review (curiosity got the better of me) and I think you might just get it. This would mean that someone should send a message to the MJFC as just reward for your efforts. The MJFC would give you mention on their page, which would be a large "feather in your cap", and which you would deserve. Good for you. (The one on holiday... :)--212.241.67.98 (talk) 19:18, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

P.S., So sorry to read about your problems with racists. Rise above it, because you're more intelligent than they are. :) --212.241.67.98 (talk) 19:21, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, worth taking a quick look at WP:GAR. Once an article reaches GA status, it would be invidious to have to struggle to keep it that way on a daily basis. So removing the IMDb reference is no big deal. It would have to get pretty bad before it was nominated for reassessment, and even so, we'd have time to address the issues raised. That's far better than having to keep the article under a microscope, although outrageous changes are usually picked up. Relax. It's there. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 02:54, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE

[edit]

What makes other opposing the FAC is that page is really disorganized. New infoboxes here, list here, making the prose eaten up. The article is on its way; be more patient. Even myself, I fail to bring "Gimme More" and "Deja Vu" to FA. Man, don't leave. You're someone here in Wiki. --Efe (talk) 07:02, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just be patient. Even me, they would say that I need to ask someone whose an English-native to copy edit my work. Thats how FAC works right now. But before that, just keep trying to resolve their comments. If they will not reply, consider posting it in the FAC page that that particular reviewer do not want to reply or is not replying yet. Don't worry, if it fails, most probably, you'll get the star next time around. --Efe (talk) 07:23, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
When Thriller 25 can stand alone as one article, it must be created to a new page. The releases should be mentioned short, but can suffice readers, in the release section. or you can make re-release subsection, then go on detailing them. At least, you can effectively clean-up the page. --Efe (talk) 07:41, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The only solution is to remove those infoboxes and merge them into the release section. --Efe (talk) 08:00, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. I can't do it for now. I'm a busy. You can try; use your sandbox --Efe (talk) 08:15, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
