Geologic map of Georgia (U.S. State))

Hold on a moment. Moving Geologic map of Georgia to Geologic map of Georgia (U.S. State) was not a good idea. You are right that the new title is better, to avoid confusion between the state and the country, but copy-pasting a page to move it loses all the page history, which is important for copyright and attribution purposes. The correct way is to actually move the article via the page move interface. I'm going to undo your move for now, flag an admin down to delete Geologic map of Georgia (U.S. State) and then you can move the article to the correct title. Altamel (talk) 18:21, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

OK. I was unaware that Wikipedia had a separate function for moving pages. Secondplanet (talk) 18:22, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Geologic map of Georgia (U.S. State) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. Altamel (talk) 18:23, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Sigh. Sorry about that. Twinkle and automated warnings; you already got my message above. Altamel (talk) 18:26, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Paleobiology Database references should be more precise.

Hello! Regarding your recently created lists of African fossiliferous stratigraphic units: the only source you seem to cite links to the main page of Fossilworks.org, leaving the true source of the information unclear: did you download raw data? are there subsections of the site dealing with each country that might be linked directly to aid in verification? In any case, I hope the red links will inspire the creation of more articles on fossil sites: lists and navigation templates full of red links are of little use to readers. Cheers, --Animalparty-- (talk) 06:45, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

The Fossilworks site provides a search by location, which results in a list of units. However, the search results are not very linkable. Each formation has papers associated with them that could be individually cited, but given the time it would take to include these I have created the pages as they are beforehand. (Following the pattern of the pages for European fossiliferous units. These also have less red links, and those that are still uncreated will probably be filled in over time. ) Ideally, more articles like this one: Pebbly Arkose Formation or this one: Forest Sandstone Formation would occupy the lists. Well Punjabi cuisine was like a stub so i added some information. I do agree it is pretty much redundant in many ways and not formatted in a proper manner. But to be honest i just edited it in an impromptu manner on the weekend. I will spend some time next weekend to make it more readable. Moreover i confess that my writing style was not good at all. Thanks for paying heed. I would not add any biased information. I will try to add proper references as well. May be next weekend i will try to clean it up. I am still in the learning phase on wikipedia so some mistakes do occur. But i will try to be as objective and accurate as possible. Again thanks. Your comments are appreciable.Mintoo44 (talk) 13:31, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Alright that is fine, I just wanted to let you know. I will probably edit the article as well, so I didn't want it to seem like I was just taking off your edits. Secondplanet (talk) 13:37, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. Have a nice day. God Bless you. Comments and suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated. Self catharis is very important for progress and i always took every comment seriously and try to correct myself as well.Mintoo44 (talk) 14:23, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Yanjiahe Formation

Hello Secondplanet,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Yanjiahe Formation for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. MaxineBangs (talk) 16:26, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for October 16

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Nrrd, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Raster. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
