[edit]Thanks for your comment! I've added your references to the page. Referencing a webpage is simple: type <ref> to begin the reference, put the URL in brackets with its title, list the creator or owner of the website, state (if it's listed on the website) when the webpage was last updated, state when you viewed it, and close with another </ref> tag. By the way, I removed the six first-place finishes because it's not in the source; Wikipedia doesn't allow original research, which includes something such as anyone saying "I put this in because I saw it happen". Is there anything else with which I can help you? Nyttend (talk) 12:50, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- For an example, see the government section of Perry Township, Logan County, Ohio: a local newspaper is cited as the source for election results. Nyttend (talk) 11:42, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, good idea on including Rick Wanamaker: normally it's not a good idea to include redlinked people in notable people sections, but since you provided a source for his championship, you've proven his notability. Have you ever created a biographical article? Nyttend (talk) 16:18, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
A few comments:
- If you don't link to them in the text, Wikipedia articles such as Athletics at the 1971 Pan American Games should be linked in a "See also" section, not in the external links
Please don't think I'm saying "horrible article!"; to the contrary, the article was well researched, quite well-formatted (except for the few bits that I noted), and overall a very good article — especially since it was your first! I'm impressed that you discovered the DEFAULTSORT template for your first biographical article; it took me months. Nyttend (talk) 13:44, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Naming conventions of cities
[edit]Re: Liberty High School (Houston)... I moved it back to that title. Here's why:
Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(geographic_names) states: "Cities listed in the AP Stylebook as not requiring the state modifier in newspaper articles have their articles named City unless they are not the primary topic for that name." This is why Houston doesn't have the "Texas". Therefore disambiguation of places in Houston should use "(Houston)". This is because the Associated Press style guide has "Houston" alone, without the "Texas"

Iowa articles for deletion
[edit]Hey Rick,
I note that you're an active member of WP:IOWA.
Can you take a look at these Iowa articles for deletion and either weigh in on the deletion discussions or help improve some of the articles? Some of these small communities may be notable; I've been working on fleshing some of the entries out, but much more work is needed. Your input is appreciated. [edit]The article Four Rivers Conference (Missouri) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
No indication of independent notability.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JTtheOG (talk) 23:13, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

A way to cite Iowa school districts by county
[edit]I am aware the State of Iowa posts maps of individual school districts, which are useful for citing which areas each school district covers. If one wants to know which school districts are in a particular county, the U.S. Census Bureau maps are very useful (for 2020 up to now).

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved content from Audi Crooks into Iowa Miss Basketball. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content (here or elsewhere), Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 21:53, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
