April 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not replace pages with blank content, as you did with this edit to User:Druhepkins, as this is confusing to readers. The page's content has been restored for now. If there is a problem with the page, it should be edited or reverted to a previous version if possible; if you think the page should be removed entirely, see further information. Thank you. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dru Hepkins requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ► Philg88 ◄ talk 00:55, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Talkback[edit]

Hello, Rockult. You have new messages at UtherSRG's talk page.
Message added 17:05, 29 April 2011 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.[reply]

Also, read the last sentence of the speedy deletion warning above. UtherSRG (talk) 17:05, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another issue with this page, Rockult, is that it did not have any sources. Every article on Wikipedia needs to have sources; they help the reader verify the information in the page. This is especially important when the article is about a person; we really don't want unsupported facts about people on Wikipedia. If this article has a few reliable, independent sources that say a lot about the subject, then you shouldn't have any trouble getting this article to stay. Thanks, and let me know if I can help (just post a message here, I'll be watching this page for a few weeks at least). ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 17:27, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The message above isn't terribly helpful; sorry - please see: Wikipedia:Drv#Steps_to_list_a_new_deletion_review for how to do deletion review. But again, you're probably going to need some good sources to get anywhere at deletion review. Thanks, ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 17:31, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 18:04, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Dru Hepkins has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hello Rockult. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Dru Hepkins, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. May 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. However, I noticed that your username (Rockult) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it gives the impression that you edit on behalf of a company (namely Rockult Entertainment); your account should only represent you as an individual. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you.}} Salvio Let's talk about it! 19:34, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rock, it's important that you respond to this message. OlYellerTalktome 02:50, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.

Daniel Case (talk) 04:46, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Daniel, I’d really appreciate it if you’d unblock my page, that wasn't very necessary. I was just contacted by an editor today saying I couldn't use that username I had. It’s not promoting my business in anyway, just a username for me to remember but I get it and understand. Regardless, I only received the message today, yesterday at best and in the same day before I got a chance to choose a different name and switch it, you blocked my account. Now there’s some bureaucratic appeal system for this? I’m not very proficient with the site and it takes me a while to figure things out. I did it once before and I was combing the site trying to figure out how to do it again. Before I got the chance to figure it out, now I've been dealt this appeals system. The page shouldn’t have been blocked within hours of the message. (talk) 06:20, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

To be unblocked, you should use the following template: {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}, indicating which username you have chosen (because your current one is not in keeping with pur policy) and convincing the reviewing admin that you understand why you were blocked and that you undertake not to do so again. Salvio Let's talk about it! 13:36, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thank you. I'll try this today.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Wasn't promoting any business and wasn't aware of the guideline. Same name is used for many things online. When I was contacted about it, i was blocked the same day before I got a moment to change it. It won't happen again.

We don't get to write about ourselves on Wikipedia. All you've done (under this account and at least one other) is attempt to do exactly that. --jpgordon::==( o ) 17:55, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

jpgordon-Wow. I’m actually his manager and this is a company computer that everyone uses. But mostly, I’m a fan and a friend who was doing him a favor because I thought it was deserved. I innocently asked another person how it’s done and followed advice, you’re trying to make this a punishable infraction when it isn't. One in a position of yours should never presume things you don’t know scanning IP addresses, and then penalize people. You are wrong for this and this is extremely surprising.

We also don't get to write about our companies, our clients, or our bands. There's no "punishable infraction" here, just Wikipedia policy regarding WP:NPOV; if you want to write about subjects other than your client, just let us know. --jpgordon::==( o ) 18:30, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
