Roger Liddle

[edit]

I assume you are the author and political adviser who is the subject of the wikipedia article Roger Liddle. Can I encourage you to read guidelines on editing articles in which you may have a conflict of interest? While subjects who have a biography on wikipedia are encouraged to correct significant errors, especially when significant controversial claims are made, it is usually better to suggest changes to your own biography on the talk page and let someone else check them over. It is rare for people to be able to be completely objective about their own lives. Please feel free to ask for help and guidance. Sam Blacketer (talk) 23:07, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Writing about your wife is also likely to be regarded as a conflict of interest. Sam Blacketer (talk) 23:31, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Caroline Thomson, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/biographies/biogs/executives/carolinethomson.shtml. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Speedy deletion of Caroline Thomson

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Caroline Thomson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Labour Party (UK). Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Contact me if you need assistance adding references. Thank you. [edit]

I know you have some skills at public relations. How does it look if someone puts their own name in a list of people "most commonly cited as the creators and architects of 'New Labour'", and then uses their own change as a reference for the same assertion? Most people would think, even if it is fair comment, that it is self-promotion and a circular argument, and that is how Wikipedia regards it too. I do not want to prevent you from editing but you are editing with a conflict of interest and it is becoming disruptive. Please help me to help you and allow me to tell you the best way to contribute to improving Wikipedia. You've been getting some automated messages but I'm a real person and I already knew who you were! Sam Blacketer (talk) 23:44, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Roger J. Liddle! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 750 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Roger Liddle - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
