Edits to Trace Lysette

[edit]

Hello RosesAreBlueToo and thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. I wanted to reach out to you because I understand that you are keen for Trace Lysette to be represented on Wikipedia in a light that is not unduly unflattering. It wasn't my intent for my edits to portray her in a negative light or to cause her or her team any distress. However, the subject of an article being unhappy with how they are portrayed in their Wikipedia biography doesn't warrant the removal of information that is relevant and sourced. I can see the argument for information about Lysette's school exclusion being irrelevant. However, Lysette's 'MeToo moment' attracted non-tabloid media coverage; she even did an interview with Elle magazine where she spoke specifically about how the MeToo movement can be more trans-inclusive, so it's unclear to me why it shouldn't be included in her article. Furthermore, the edits that you are making may be against Wikipedia's rules. Single-purpose accounts that exist with the aim of promotion or showcasing the point of view of the editor are not [allowed]: 'Wikipedia's Arbitration Committee has determined that "single purpose accounts and editors who hold a strong personal viewpoint on a particular topic covered within Wikipedia are expected to contribute neutrally instead of following their own agenda and, in particular, should take care to avoid creating the impression that their focus on one topic is non-neutral, which could strongly suggest that their editing is not compatible with the goals of this project."' Please could you familiarise yourself with Wikipedia's guidance on this matter.

If you are paid to make edits on Wikipedia you need to disclose this. I would suggest making this information clearly visible on your Wikipedia userpage and on Trace Lysette's talk page. See [[1]]. Note, 'Users who are compensated for any publicity efforts related to the subject of their Wikipedia contributions are deemed to be paid editors, regardless of whether they were compensated specifically to edit Wikipedia.' Let me know if you have any more questions. Lemonpip (talk) 14:01, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

You have stated you are part of Lysette's "team", if you are paid for this, you must disclose this. Even if not paid, you have a conflict of interest that you must address and tell us how your edits will be consistent with that policy going forward. 331dot (talk) 09:30, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
