Battle of Muong Khoua

I never got the hang of the whole wiki-politeness thing, so I'll say it right out and hope I don't give offense: What do you think you're doing? That article was a mess when I found it—littered with misspellings and inconsistencies and barely comprehensible or even recognizable as a form of English in parts. Don't go putting semicolons in if you have no idea what a semicolon is for, and do try to find out what the literary present is. I don't want to dump on you or make you the butt of my frustration with Wikipedia, but it does bug the living hell out of me when people do what you're doing, coming in after I've busted my ass copyediting and messing it up again. Sorry, but I hope frankness is as valuable as civility sometimes. --Milkbreath (talk) 12:04, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your civil reply. How do you do that? Anyway, I just wanted to mention that I've had occasion to say almost the exact words of your quotation up there, but they weren't received well. Her problem, not mine, I say. --Milkbreath (talk) 16:01, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

I personally think this should be redirected, but as per your requested I have begun a dialogue on the talk page and invited the other two users who redirected it to go there also. SGGH ping! 23:36, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

I believe this is good enough as a separate article, because Ten Commandments is quite a long page, and I am planning to write this one as quite a long one too. It meets Wikipedia's notability standards and all information is reliably sourced, so there is no reason not to include it. Xyz7890 (talk) 23:39, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Noted. I would advise you keep replying on the article page, otherwise it might get confusing! :) SGGH ping! 23:39, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up; I do agree and feel that the article should be redirected back to Ten Commandments, and have mentioned such on the talk page. I'll forward any further conversation there. --mhking (talk) 23:42, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Sambot

Hi,

I noticed you asked a question as to how Sambot works out which cricketers to update. Couldn't see if you got a reply, so here's another one just in case!

Sambot works but updating players found at User:Sambot/players. Any player who has played an international in the last 365 days, is added (manually, by one of us), along with a link to the CA profile.

# [[Player article name]] http://www.cricketarchive.com/linktoplayerCApage.html

It is best if this is done once a match is completed - there are several instances where a player makes his debut on a Thursday, and is added to the list, but by the time Sambot makes it's Saturday run, the match isn't completed. The CA page reads 0 Tests (or whatever), and so the player is removed automatically and needs re-adding!

Hope this helps,

Explain yerself!

Hey there! :) I was just wondering how you felt we could improve the references you talk about here. I made sure to reference every sentence, so I'm just curious on where they're lacking. Any help is appreciated! Cheers, Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 20:35, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Removed, then. Cheers, Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 20:43, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Custom button to insert an infobox

Hello SGGH,

I'm sorry that the code that I suggested to insert in your monobook.js didn't work... In fact, I didn't know that the function 'addCustomButton' was a custom one on fr:, and tried to use it here. Now it works fine with what I did on my monobook. Feel free to copy-paste my monobook. OrangeKnight (talk) 10:46, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks ;) OrangeKnight (talk) 11:07, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Have you done all that you intend to do to the article, or do you still plan to merge back in some of the old content? Some of the sections that have disappeared, such as "The D'Oliviera Affair" abd "The Master's Club", contain information that I think is valuable, so I hope that it is the latter. If you are short of time, I'd be willing to do some work on the article myself, but there's no point in my doing so if it's liable to be deleted again. JH (talk page) 18:07, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I think it will be Monday at the earliest before I will have the time to do anything. I'll also see if I can do something about the places where it's been flagged that citations are needed. I know that I have at least one book that mentions his always wearing a black tie after the death of his son. JH (talk page) 19:36, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Boycott

Hi, When reading the article I found this paragraph a little confusing.

Boycott then played in the 1981 Ashes series, despite being aged 40. During the second Test at Lord's Cricket Ground Boycott was dismissed 40 short of a century by Dennis Lillee, and was "crushed". Just prior to reaching his hundredth Test match during the series, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1980 Queen's Birthday Honours "for services to Cricket."

The Test at Lords was his 100th Test - to my understanding was his 100th Test. The next sentence makes it sound like his 100th Test was later in the Series. Unless I'm wrong the sentence needs some tweaking. That's the reason he was crushed after not being able to score a century in his 100th like Cowdrey did previously. Great Work on the article, all the best, Aaroncrick (talk) 10:07, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Thankyou. When eventually reviewed it should pass GA easily. Aaroncrick (talk) 10:14, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Somerset Cricketers

Hi, I saw from WP:CRIC that you are a Somerset supporter. You may have noticed that I have been doing some work on expanding the articles for their players recently, notably Craig Kieswetter, Omari Banks and Zander de Bruyn. I am also paying particular attention to Andrew Caddick due to his upcoming retirement, and the fact he was a leading England player for a number of years. I would appreciate any input or contributions you might have on these or other Somerset CCC related articles, and particularly would appreciate comments on the how the Andrew Caddick article is shaping up. Harrias (talk) 12:11, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your information regarding citations and punctuation order. I thought I'd managed to get the Manual of Style sorted, but clearly I missed that! I'm going to have to go through all the pages I've done and make a few edits! At least I found out now. Harrias (talk) 17:51, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Sambot

Hi SGGH. Sorry for the belated response. There is a control file at User:Sambot/players that you (or indeed anyone!) can edit. Best wishes, [[User:Sam Korn|Sam Korn]] (smoddy) 16:06, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
