September 2021[edit]

Information icon

Hello SamTorresATL. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:SamTorresATL. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=SamTorresATL|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. MarioGom (talk) 12:37, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello MarioGom. I am not receiving compensation for my edits at this time. I've been submitting to help members of a networking community of which I'm a member. There is no compensation or reciprocity as part of this. SamTorresATL (talk) 22:24, 16 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SamTorresATL, thank you for your response. You may still want to read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for further information about non financial conflict of interest. Best, MarioGom (talk) 19:17, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you use other references in Create & Learn. Rastinition (talk) 14:43, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Create & Learn moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Create & Learn, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As an editor with a conflict of interest, you should use WP:AFC to submit your articles for review by independent editors. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:59, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Create & Learn[edit]

Hello, SamTorresATL. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Create & Learn".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 18:47, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Artifact Uprising, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. —Alalch E. 00:36, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to be a professional digital marketer, and as such you were almost certainly paid to promote this company. Sincerely —Alalch E. 00:40, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I added a topic below using the paid disclosure template. Is this sufficient or is there something else I need to do in order to get the account unblocked? SamTorresATL (talk) 12:26, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

I added a topic below using the paid disclosure template. Is this sufficient or is there something else I need to do in order to get the account unblocked? SamTorresATL (talk) 01:55, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. It was necessary but it is not sufficient. In the block notice to which you have replied there are instructions how to place an unblock request. When doing so you should also confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements and describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future. In the second paragraph of the notice there is a link to the guide to appealing blocks. It would be good to read this guide. The most important takeaway should be that you are responsible for convincing administrators that the block is no longer necessary because you understand what you are blocked for, you will not do it again, and you will make productive contributions instead. About "productive contributions" see the "Tell us why you are here" section and WP:SPAMACCOUNT. Hope that helps —Alalch E. 13:20, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! I'll review all of those and get a better understanding about everything. SamTorresATL (talk) 14:48, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock Request[edit]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

First, accepting responsibility for my actions, I apologize. My account was blocked due to me violating the Wikimedia Foundation’s Terms of Use and failing to adhere to the paid editing disclosure requirements (August 2023). I understand that I have a financial COI (conflict of interest) and failed to disclose that when submitting the article for Artifact Uprising. I have sense used the Paid Editing Disclosure Requirements template in order to disclose the appropriate details (Paid editing disclosure requirements). I am confirming that I have recently read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements. In the future, if I have any other financial COIs: I will disclose it according to the paid editing disclosure requirements; rather than make edits directly I will propose changes on talk pages by using the {{edit COI}} template or by posting a note at the COI noticeboard, so that they can be peer reviewed; rather than creating new articles directly I will put them through the Articles for Creation process; and I will respect and abide by the policies. I also have been going through Learn to Edit articles, the Help articles, and other resources for learning how to contribute to the Wikipedia community and projects. I plan to contribute by editing and assisting with other articles and projects that I have no conflict of interest with. Probably starting in the community portal in the Help Out section where I can find different types of tasks. If there is anything I can clarify, please don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you for your time and consideration. SamTorresATL (talk) 04:16, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

No response to my query below in eight days. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:21, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • I get the sense that you don't have any COI/paid related edits you will be making in the short term? It would be good if you didn't make such edits in the short term, so you can demonstrate your understanding of relevant policies by having an edit history from edits to other areas. Marketing writing is very different from encyclopedia writing, and those in your position are not often successful in moving from that world to this one(though it's certainly possible). 331dot (talk) 08:46, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sam, do you have anything to say in response to that? Daniel Case (talk) 06:46, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
