Speedy deletion of Three's Company Communications
[edit]A tag has been placed on Three's Company Communications requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - Yes, that article is probably going to be deleted. Whether you're involved with the company or not, the best place to start is probably WP:FAQ/Business. The key point is to find and cite high quality, third party publications to source much of the information. This will typically also show that the article's subject is notable, which is the basic rule for inclusion, though there's a second guideline dealing with just corporations. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me here, or at Wikipedia:Help Desk. I've temporarily moved the article to your userspace User:SampLevy/Three's_Company_Communications, where you'll get a longer change to work on it before some busybody gets too complain-y. Cheers, WilyD 14:45, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for your advice, I have made some more amends to the article and added in a couple of references. The company has been around for more than 30 years which i feel makes it worth including in Wikipedia. I would welcome any input you may have?--SampLevy (talk) 17:40, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well, how long a company's been around usually wouldn't figure into whether it would be kept at a deletion discussion. I might push something into the mainspace at that point, but I wouldn't recommend it. The article says "won a number of awards including Communicators in Business Gold Award for a Health & Safety campaign, Communicators in Business Strategy Awards 2007 and B2B Marketing Awards - Best limited budget campaign" - do you know perhaps of any news stories or whatnot covering those? WilyD 19:36, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, I have some other sources for the awards and also from the media coverage of the FX4Charity launch, i will add them in. Please could you then have a look. I really appreciate your input. Thank you.--SampLevy (talk) 10:33, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- At this point, I think the article is in a pretty good position to survive any discussion about possibly deletion. There's some formatting issues and whatnot, I'll try and tidy that up. Sorry about the rough entrance, but it happens to just about everyone who starts by writing about business. Locals around here are hyper-paranoid about spam. WilyD 11:49, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Three's Company Communications
[edit]A tag has been placed on Three's Company Communications, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. - Thanks for your help tidying it up - any suggestions WilyD? on how i can prevent the deletion. I have looked at other entries and feel it is now in line with them. Help!?--SampLevy (talk) 13:00, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- I have now removed the phrase in question, thank you for your input. Much appreciated. --SampLevy (talk) 13:21, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- It seems the person who added that tag is very aggressive about that sort of thing, and the request was turned down by another administrator, as it was a bad request. (Since I've been involved in the article now, it would generally be seen as inappropriate for me to take any administrative-type actions towards it.) If you're looking for an example page, Elderly Instruments is about a small/medium sized business that's a Featured Article, which means it's generally taken to be very good on essentially all standards. Now, I will caution that when it was featured on the main page, a nontrivial minority threw a fit that any article about a business would be featured there. There's just no pleasing some people. WilyD 13:51, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Date format
[edit]Do you really prefer 31st February 2009 to 31st February, 2009 for formatting dates? Living in the colonies, I very much long for a comma in a date, but since the article is about a business in England, English English ought to be used. WilyD 14:41, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks I'll have a look at the example page you noted above, thats really useful thanks. Really appreciate your input. As for the comma suggestion on formatting dates, they don't tend to use comma's in dates in England, however dont mind either format.--SampLevy (talk) 09:21, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on your user page, User:SampLevy, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages: user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for businesses.
If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page in question and leave a note on this page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Calton | Talk 06:15, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Three's Company Communications requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Drewerd (talk) 16:18, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
