Ways to improve No More Sorrow (Linkin Park Song)
[edit]Hi, I'm Lstanley1979. Samparee, thanks for creating No More Sorrow (Linkin Park Song)!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hello - thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. Please take account of WP:NSONG when writing this sort of article; make sure you can prove why the song deserves an article of its own. Also, make sure you use enough references to demonstrate this.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. LouiseS1979 (pigeonhole) 13:42, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:No More Sorrow Album Art.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:No More Sorrow Album Art.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 16:07, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
No More Sorrow
[edit]Hello and thank you for following up with me. An article's notability on Wikipedia is not determined by the subjects' success or popularity, but rather by the amount of reliable third-party sources that can be used to verify and add substantial content. This is a policy outlined in WP:Notability.
No More Sorrow was previously deleted not satisfying these conditions. Yes, it was a popular song, but the article ultimately failed to address why the song was popular and back it up with reliable sources. The other key factor is that the article did not divulge into any deep discussions or commentary about the song's background, composition, or critical reception.
The final element in my decision came from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/No More Sorrow (Linkin Park) - where the article was previously discussed nominated for deletion and re-directed to Minutes to Midnight. Articles that have been deleted/re-directed in an AFD discussion cannot be re-created without a discussion (Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#G4). Recreated articles are considered criteria for speedy deletion unless approved via a talkpage. So in summation, the key take away here is that notability on Wikipedia is not directly related to a subjects success or popularity. It's rather defined by the amount of 3rd party media coverage from reliable resources that can be used to create substantial content and critical commentary. The article for My Immortal is a good example of how a song should be written and sourced on Wikipedia. I would strongly suggest making a test page under your username, like User:Samparee/Sandbox1 for drafting a new article.
Please let me know if you have any questions, thanks and have a great day. -- StarScream1007 ►Talk 14:55, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
- Not sure if you read my reply - but if you re-create I will list it for speedy-deletion as opposed to reverting your revision. Again, please look over WP:Notability and WP:RS. Sources from fansites ARE NOT considered reliable sources and assert no notability whatsoever. Please read and understand these policies before you continue. -- StarScream1007 ►Talk 04:02, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
- The article looks better and you have done a good job by adding more references. I will leave article as it is right now. Thanks, -- StarScream1007 ►Talk 14:28, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
