License tagging for Image:New daleks face close up.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:New daleks face close up.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 10:09, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

St Laurence's

[edit]

Please note that you cannot add a protection notice to the top of the page if it is not actually protected. If it requires protection you need to request it from an administrator. Use WP:RFPP for protection requests. Rimmeraj 23:12, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sandman, thanks for the email.
The WP:RFPP article has the information you want. simply edit the 'Current requests for protection' section, and your request will be considered. BUT, it is very likely that your request may be rejected as there may not have been enough vandalism to warrant the protection. Rimmeraj 01:22, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
ps, you can reply here if you have further questions. Rimmeraj 01:22, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
ok not sure as to how i reply on my emails as there is no reply button and i have 2 options protect it with your help as i tried and have no understanding of this template stuff your on about or i was given the ok to completely remove this page today from the boss of the school (where i work at) so if i remove it you will not create a new one i hope? (copied from email)
Hi Sandman,
I shall put in the request for you, and let you know the result. Please note, that if you do remove the page it will be replaced as you will have vandalised the page. The page is not the property of your boss or the school. Rimmeraj 21:23, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The page has been successfully protected for 2 Weeks. Only in exceptional circumstances will it be protected permenantly. Rimmeraj 21:39, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion Request

[edit]

>> mail received Rimmeraj 06:49, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hello again

didnt know who else to contact but i would like to put a request in to remove the st laurences college article altogether.

i realise you said before that it is not the property of our school, but as you can image that when the principal requests the page to be removed then i have no choose but to do it, but whith a very limited understanding of how to edit and remove articles this is why i have emailed you.

please help me out by removing the page asap

many thanks in advanced Sandman

response:

Hi SandMan

Please Edit this page for any further discussion.

see WP:DL for the wikipedia deletion policy. My understanding is that you cannot delete the article directly. You can request it be deleted, but I can assure you that others will answer with a no. If you provide a paragraph 'reasons for deletion' I can submit the request for you. The reasons you provide should state why it is to be deleted. Please remember that articles are similar to a newspaper article, just because the topic of discussion (your school) requests a newspaper article to be removed, does not mean it happens.

Note: If you do delete it, it will be repaired, and you will end up being blocked for vandalising wikipedia.

thanks Rimmeraj 06:56, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Screen_shot_2010-04-26_at_7.17.12_PM.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Screen_shot_2010-04-26_at_7.17.12_PM.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? feydey (talk) 11:08, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have tagged File:Screen_shot_2010-04-26_at_7.17.12_PM.png as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Orphaned non-free image File:Screen shot 2010-04-26 at 7.17.12 PM.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Screen shot 2010-04-26 at 7.17.12 PM.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.

Thank you for uploading File:Stlaurencescollegegairfield.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Eeekster (talk) 23:33, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Stlaurencescollegegairfield.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Eeekster (talk) 23:32, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you are IT at the school then you will know how to remove the "Copyright © 2010 St Laurence's College" from the bottom of the web page and replace it with an appropiate creative commons license. Then you can have your picture. See WP:DCM for full details.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:43, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you understood the way licensing works you would understand that the school can copyright a page and still release the image directly to wikipedia under a CC license. Ansell 00:37, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm 220 of Borg. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Severe storms in Australia, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 220 of ßorg 10:11, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
