Hi, thank you.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi Schependipity, I notice you have re-arranged all the photos to the right side. Is there a reason for this?

For comparison, in a recently edit of [Botanic Gardens article], another editor did exactly the opposite by staggering the photos, which seems to make the article more interesting visually.

From the way wikipedia displays edit history differences, I cannot make out all your 'grammar and copy edits', but the additional Raffles square photo and placing 'foreign relations' and military under 'govt and politics' is a good idea. -Wrigleygum (talk) 06:49, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wrigley. Yeah, wiki's been moving towards images on the right side of pages for years now. The zig-zag layout isn't as good for the reader. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Images#Location Schependipity (talk) 01:56, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Phumbey. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. You removed 3 tags, all of which are still valid. Please don't do this again. PamD 10:34, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, no problem. Schependipity (talk) 11:54, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Copy and paste at Demographics of Cambodia article

[edit]

Hello. I noticed this edit was a copy and paste from Ethnic groups of Cambodia. While I believe the edit was a good idea and added good info to the article, Wikipedia licensing still requires attribution when copying text like that. See Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Usually a thorough edit summary that includes a link to the copied page is enough to suffice, but see the linked guideline for better methods of attribution. I reverted the edit as unattributed, but please feel free to reinstate it with proper attribution. Cheers!--William Thweatt TalkContribs 22:57, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

remove portal Indonesia from Category main space. It has been put there for consistency, your removing it is of no specific assistance to anyone who might go to the category mainspace. JarrahTree 09:44, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, if it's important to you. Schependipity (talk) 09:46, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello? Wikipedia is a collaboratively evolved project, there is nothing to do with a single individual, it is the broad based principles of what conventions are reached by consensus. Individual preferences are in the man irrelevent - have a look at WP:ABOUT and WP:NOT, and in your case WP:CATEGORY before wandering in and changing Indonesian categories so freely and easily. JarrahTree 09:52, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jarrah, I apologise for removing the Indonesia portal signs. Schependipity (talk) 10:29, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
np, also the see alsos... no big deal, wp en is a learning experience, hope you enjoy it... JarrahTree 10:35, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Category

[edit]

Is insufficient explanation in your edit summaries for your removal of items from the Indonesian demographics category. What is it that you have about this particular category, and why should Indonesian demographics be different from any other country in the world? most country demographic categories have similar contents JarrahTree 09:52, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, they don't. Individual people do not constitute demographic blocs. Schependipity (talk) 09:55, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK - please explain why TAPOL is not related to the categories you have removed. What do you know about the subject? JarrahTree 09:59, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It can stay there if you want. Yes, it's also related to those things. I was just doing some category consolidation (areas get clogged up). S'ok! I'm finished sorting the Indonesia categories now, I'm going elsewhere. Schependipity (talk) 10:04, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop

[edit]

You have repeatedly removed see also and portal items from main space category pages. I will be reverting those edits. Please understand you are removing items that are legitimately on the pages. If you are a new user, and havent been on for long, to go and change long established conventions on category pages, it would be very wise to try something else instead. JarrahTree 10:07, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm an experienced editor. You can put your portal stuff back on, that's fine, don't touch my work though. Schependipity (talk) 10:09, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your removing material from main space doesnt show it, and to say don't touch my work also doesnt show anything experienced. If you really are an experienced editor you would have a better understanding of what you were up to.

Hello, Schependipity,
Please do not remove parent categories from empty categories (which you marked as "superfluous"). It's important for editors and admins who come upon the empty categories to know where they fit into the hierarchical category structure. It helps one know whether it is a category that just needs to be populated or one that should be deleted.

Looking at the other messages on your talk page, it seems that other editors have found your editing to be disruptive and not according to Wikipedia norms. Please be more careful in your editing decisions in the future or you might face a temporary block. Liz Read! Talk! 14:04, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
