Welcome

[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

I'm sorry that it's taken a month to welcome you properly.

Freeware Lists

[edit]

I applaud your work on removing the list of commercial -> freeware -releases from [Abandonware] article and putting it on the [List of freeware games]. For months I've thought this should be done but lacked the spine and muscle to do so myself. Good effort! evktalo 11:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome, it just had to be done. That list was really confusing there. It still needs some cleanup, but I guess it's a good step. Sega381 03:13, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Paganitzu.png

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Paganitzu.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ResurgamII 22:47, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, added the rationale, to it and other images. I hope it's what it was supposed to be. Sega381 03:52, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Commander Keen series

[edit]

applause for working on the commander keen articles. they are most important.-- ExpImptalkcon 10:10, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, they were in need of cleanup and some expansion.Sega381 12:56, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As another Keen fan, I'm glad to see more people working on improving the articles.

One piece of comment though; the last 150-or so sequential updates (not counting a few updates that got inbetween) were all made by you, turning the article's history into a big mess. Some of them just added a comma or exchanged 2 sentences or something other tiny. All these could've easily been a few big updates. Of course this isn't as important as the actual article, but it's still nice for others to be able to check what happened easily. You can use the "Show preview" and "Show changes" buttons to see what looks better, and what still needs changing. I personally sometimes simply drop everything in a file on my computer, work on something over a longer time, only upload when I'm done. Of course when somebody updates in the meantime, you may (if the edit wasn't vandalism or something) have to incorporate those changes manually.

I hope I don't sound too negative; I don't mean to be, just trying to help improve the History aspect of Wikipedia as well. :) Retodon8 19:19, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, I was actually kinda embarassed about that when I realized it. It's just that the moments I have to work on the articles are quite erratic, leading to multiple, small edits. But I'm working on that :). Thanks for the comments.Sega381 23:05, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Keen3Gameplay.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Keen3Gameplay.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. CO2 16:02, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, it already has a fair use rationale. I'm not sure what is missing... it has a detailed explanation on why it is used in both articles where it is referenced... could you please tell me what is wrong with the current fair use rationale? Sega381 13:52, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

peer review

[edit]

I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the Heroes (TV series) talkpage and give us an honest peer review. The page has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at the Heroes Wikiproject some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. We have all worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. I you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Thank you very much for your help and your continued effort to improve Wikipedia and its quality! Auril

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Auril, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Auril. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:ManglingMachine.gif

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:ManglingMachine.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:31, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moving Warzone 2100 to open-source from commercial->freeware games list

[edit]

Yo. Thanks for noting the move in your edit summary, though I would have also appreciated your moving the screenshot I took of WZ2100 along with it. A bot immediately got on my case for having an orphaned image, but no problem. :P - Keron Cyst (talk) 17:23, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I actually didn't move the Warzone game, I just removed it from the list, as it was already duplicated in the other list. I dind't notice the image wasn't duplicated too, sorry! Sega381 (talk) 23:26, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Radar Group

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Radar Group requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Mayalld (talk) 13:06, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

There is a discussion/vote you may be interested in taking place at Nikon DSLR template talk Regarding the format of the table and the information it displays. Thanks in advance. -Fcb981(talk:contribs) 17:52, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Otherware

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Otherware. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Otherware. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:14, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Registerware, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Registerware. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Fleet Command (talk) 10:44, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:32, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
