Reverting Edits

Excuse me, I have made a contribution to the Antonio Salieri Wikipedia page 18:09, August 18. I had no intention to vandalize, I genuinely wanted to add some information. For some time it stayed up but it was reverted seemingly out of the blue. I didn't get notified so I don't understand who reverted it or why it was reverted but I was hoping that you could offer some information or advice. Perhaps I'm just a naïve and the answer should be obvious but I'm very new to Wikipedia and have yet to learn. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Date Mothman (talkcontribs) 02:56, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

@Date Mothman:, your edits were reverted because you kept trying to claim that Mozart was gay without giving any reliable sources to demonstrate that your edits were not merely your own personal opinions.--Mr Fink (talk) 03:36, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

Mr Fink, I didn't claim Mozart was gay. I didn't even claim Salieri was gay. I wrote "As a side note, sexuality-wise, it would be unfair to assume that he is heterosexual as in Dwight's Journal of Music he said, speaking about the reviews of his first opera, "...'It pleased me right well,' said a second. (That man I could have kissed)." The possibility that he considered kissing a man, while not solid confirmation, is enough to make one consider that he is not heterosexual.".— Preceding unsigned comment added by Date Mothman (talkcontribs)

That sort of deliberately ambiguous wording is weasel wording, and does not improve or belong in Wikipedia.--Mr Fink (talk) 01:05, 25 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi Serols, thank you for reverting my modification. It seems that my translation to Italian changed the original page in English, correct? If so I wonder what went wrong since I followed the same approach I already used for some previous translations..

Hi there -

Yes it is a mistake - Julia Taylor Ross' birthday is NOT correct. Also she now goes by Julia Chan as you will see from IMDB.

How do we change her name to Julia Chan (AKA Julia Taylor Ross)??

Hello Lovelyattire 1, I think this is not right - see here 1, 2, 3. Also her bithdate is obviously April 14, 1983. Regards --Serols (talk) 07:26, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi Serols - The birthday is definitely incorrect. If you look at IMDB you will see she now is credited as Julia CHAN not Taylor Ross, can we change it to ("also known professionally as JULIA TAYLOR ROSS") Thanks for your help.

Hello Lovelyattire 1, IMDB is the only site in the top 100 on Google with Julia Chan, the rest with Taylor Ross. You can write your concerns on the talk page. Regards --Serols (talk) 15:32, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

Lord Ram

Lord Ram which is refered as 'राम' in devnagari (Hindi and Sanskrit) is the correct name Why should we call him Rama? The name should not be modify in such a way that it lost it true pronunciation and meaning. Who are Bharata, Lakshmana? they are actually called Bharat and Lakshman. Why there is always 'a' which is not at all required in each vedic name

Hello Tailor jigyasu 12345, the article name is Rama, not Ram. --Serols (talk) 11:24, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Do you know the true/actual name referred in the old text, and do you know Sanskrit??

Hello Tailor jigyasu 12345,please accept the aricle name. --Serols (talk) 11:36, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
Serols With all respect, I just want to convey, the article name itself leads to wrong information, The purpose of Wikipedia is not to spread the wrong information. If article name has ambiguity, it does not mean that we need to follow same thing for entire article. Why I am doing this changes because I belongs to the community where the God Ram is our deity and we know how to call their name, we don't want to disrespect his name. And also help me to edit article name too.
Hello Tailor jigyasu 12345, is this ok for you: Rama or Ram (/ˈrɑːmə/;[2] Sanskrit: राम, IAST: Rāma), also known as Ramachandra, .....--Serols (talk) 12:02, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
Serols Sounds ok, Thanks

I added the alternative name of these, Kilted Sausages, as they are known in Scotland, this is not vandalism, this is correcting an inaccuracy in the article.

Hello,

a html error that I went back and corrected, during which time you sent a message accusing me of vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DrGonzo11 (talkcontribs) 16:03, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello DrGonzo11, unfortunately many make this mistake intentionally to destroy the page view. Not by you - sorry for the warning. --Serols (talk) 17:27, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

You claim that the link I added "didn't appear to be constructive". You are obviously wrong, as you would find if you actually (1) clicked on the link and (2) observed who the author of the linked text is. I have reverted.

I ask you to consider things more carefully in the future. Additionally, you should not classify such edits as minor. 86.168.144.113 (talk) 17:36, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello 86.168.144.113, no social-links - see Wikipedia:Weblinks. Regards --Serols (talk) 17:39, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for explaining more. That guidelines states this: "Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject, one should generally avoid providing external links to ... Twitter feeds". That says it is a guideline, using the term "generally". Thus, it is not a rigid policy.
The Wikipedia article is about a movie that is written and directed by Asia Argento. The movie includes a scene where Argento's character is sexually assaulted by a man similar to Harvey Weinstein. Argento has a blue-check Twitter account. Using that account, she sent out a tweet of the first part of the scene. The link that I put in was for her tweet.
I have now put the link back in, but in a different way: as a second reference, for the paragraph that discusses the scene. See what you think. 86.167.140.159 (talk) 18:01, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
Hello 86.168.144.113, now is your edit perfect - thank you. Regards --Serols (talk) 18:15, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Finding Gobi edits

I would ask you to listen to the interviews that I have posted and they are very informative and add a lot to the subject

The interview with Dion Leonard is the runner who found Gobi. The interview includes information that is not found anywhere else. I recieved no compensation for that or any of my interviews

Please respond, as I am new to Wiki and am really trying to enhance the topics

Also, you reverted a number of my edits. If you listen to just a few moments of the interviews, you will be able to determine that they are not destructive posts.

Can you please review your work and give me a path for me to follow to post these interviews

Hello MarkRybczyk, what you do is link-spam. Regards--Serols (talk) 17:27, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
Hello Serols I am still confused. The link went to an interview with the Wiki subject. I am not clear how that is Spam. Please be more specific. I am not trying to be destructive or cause problems, but your actions are about to get me banned from Wikipedia because another user is assuming I am posting Spam. All the links are for interviews with the Wiki Subject. They all include first person information that is not otherwise listed in the Wiki page. I also followed COI protocol.
I am not clear on the reason for your actions because a quick check of the link would be all it takes to indicate it is not Spam

MarkRybczyk (talk) 22:04, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello MarkRybczyk, since May you get warnings because of your links. This is definitely the last warning. --Serols (talk) 14:38, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

Page Checklist

Hello,

A couple of days ago I noticed that someone removed the checklist link from the Checklist page. This came from an IP address. I thought this was spam so I undid the change. For some reason, I got caught up in this back and forth thinking that user was using different IP addresses and just removing my fix. I tried to contact you but every time my message to you was deleted. It seemed to me that the whole way in which Wikipedia works is not open as a link that has been there for years gets removed and the UNDO gets marked as spam. That's the opposite of how it should work.

Can you please explain to me why you think that the link to checklist.com is spam? It is a link to a website that is highly relevant and sheds more light on different checklist examples. I don't see what is wrong with it other than it being commercial. But reading the wikipedia guide, it says that that is not a problem as long as it adds value. Which in my opinion it does.

I look forward to your response.

Hello, the page is not conform with Wikipedia:Weblinks and what you have done is linkspam and edit-war. --Serols (talk) 14:27, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
I have read that document and I believe it is fine. What is exactly not conform with? I don't believe it is spam and hence my question to you.
Apparently not accurate - Wikipedia:Weblinks -> 6 - your site has no value for Wikipedia. Please read also External link spamming. Also interesting for you: MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. --Serols (talk) 07:23, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
Checklist.com is a site about checklists. It provides numerous examples of checklists that the Wikipedia reader can benefit from to further understand checklists and how to use them. I see a direct value here to readers. If you take this approach of "no value" then no links are of any value to wikipedia readers. This is clearly not the case. In addition, this link was there for years until someone removed it and now you claim I am the spammer. BTW - It is not MY site. I am just a user. You refer to point 6 which say: "Sites that require payment or registration" but Checklist.com does not require neither to view the checklists — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.129.89.25 (talk) 14:28, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the message concernig above mentioned page. I am not familiar with these things in Wikipedia but I hope I am in a correct place (talk?). 1. I have not done the edit you mention. Some idiot has been there. 2. I do have a proper identity in Wikipedia and I have done a couple of corrections there. 3. Before the identity I also made some corrections and those, I believe, are on some IP-address. 4. My present IP-address and the one you have are the same. My service provider makes the addresses. That's all I can tell about this.
